Activity Overview When outlining psychological therapies for addiction, students often fail to describe the therapies in detail and do not apply the therapy to a particular addiction. Resources Required CBT Explained – Gambling CBT Explained – Smoking
Teacher Instructions Teaching & Learning Strategy A This is a simply activity that gives students an opportunity to consider CBT in relation to two different addictions. CBT applies to gambling rather nicely, and the additional ‘thought bubbles’ on the handouts provide students with a prompt apply their knowledge of CBT t the treatment of gambling. If you want to stretch and challenge your students, you can ask them to apply the principles of CBT to smoking, which is a much harder task.
