DESCRIPTION
Graduates who complete an APAC-accredited four-year course majoring in psychology can apply for conditional registration as psychologists with the Psychology Board of Australia. Subject to completing a further two years of supervised practice (in Australia) or a Master of Psychology, graduates can gain membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and apply for registration to practice as psychologists in Australia. The Singapore Psychological Society has its own requirements for registration as a psychologist in Singapore. (Updated 07/14)

JCU Singapore is fully owned by James Cook University Australia. The university is ranked in the top 4%* of universities in the world. It established JCU Singapore in 2003 as part of its expressed intent of internationalising its activities and offers a suite of university level programs at the Singapore campus including Business, IT, Psychology and Education.
Additionally, JCU Singapore offers courses at the pre-university level, specifically designed to provide pathways for students who are unable to immediately meet university entrance standards.
JCU Singapore campuses are located at Upper Thomson and at Ang Mo Kio. Both provide students with access to a full range of facilities and services to support their learning. These include lecture and seminar rooms, library and associated study facilities, computer laboratories, and access to a variety of sporting facilities. In order to ensure that students have ready access to LearnJCU, our technology based learning management system, all students are provided with an iPad** when they commence their course.
JCU Inter-campus Mobility ProgramJCU Singapore provides the opportunity for students to study in Singapore and in Australia and yet still remain as Singapore based students paying their fees in Singapore currency. This is a unique program in Asia and is only able to operate because the university operates across both countries. The program is designed to ensure the students get the best possible outcomes from their years of study with the university.

Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. The role of psychologists has diversified to cater for the needs of the individual as well as for communities, professions and organisations.

JCU Singapore is EduTrust Certified. The EduTrust certification scheme is administered by the Council for Private Education (CPE) a statutory board formed in 2009. EduTrust requires all students to be covered under a Fee Protection Scheme. In JCU Singapore, this is provided through an insurance protection scheme. Further, EduTrust also requires that the students must be covered under a medical insurance coverage which has provision for hospitalisation, surgery and treatment costs throughout their course duration. JCU Singapore will advise in the Standard Student Contract the total amount of insurance payable.

Study ProgramFor the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), students need to complete 24 subjects at Levels 1-3.
For the Bachelor of Psychology, students need to complete 24 subjects at Levels 1-3 and an additional 4 subjects at Level 4.

Graduate Diploma of PsychologyThis course is an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited program. It offers a mixture of supervised research and advanced coursework.
Entry to the program requires a completed three-year undergraduate degree with a specialisation in psychology (with a minimum Credit average across level 3 subjects), accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.
The subjects are the same as the Level 4 Pass Degree program.

Entry to the Level 4 program is also available on a case-by-case basis for students who have completed a three-year undergraduate program in psychology at an external institution.

The postgraduate programs in Clinical Psychology provide academic and practical postgraduate training for professional practice at a level sufficient to meet the criteria for registration as a practicing psychologist in Singapore and Australia.
The programs in Australia and Singapore are accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and graduates are eligible for membership of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

The professional programs encompass three main components:
Academic CourseworkThe coursework modules are usually delivered in weekly teaching sessions and some may be delivered in workshop format (e.g. two 3-day workshops). Students are actively engaged in presentations, role-plays, practice assessments and group discussions.
Supervised Practica
There is a total of 1,000 practical hours for the Masters program (students in the Doctoral program will complete an additional 500 hours), which are conducted in the JCU Singapore Psychology Clinic and in external clinical settings.
Research Thesis
A research project focusing on an area of clinical psychology is conducted and written up as a conventional research dissertation (maximum of 15,000 words for the Masters program and 50,000 words for the Doctoral program).

Entry Requirements• The entrance requirements differ from country to country but in
general applicants must have satisfactorily completed 12 years of schooling or equivalent
• Successful completion of the JCU Singapore Foundation Program will also satisfy the entrance requirement.

English Requirements• IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)/TOEFL iBT 79 (with minimum
writing score of 19) and above; or• Satisfactory completion of JCU Singapore English Language Preparatory
Program (ELPP)• Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study
in English medium may satisfy the English language requirement on a case-by-case basis.
Entry Requirements• Same as Bachelor of Psychology, but entry to the program requires a
completed three-year undergraduate degree with a specialisation in psychology (with a minimum Credit average across level 3 subjects), accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.

Honours (or equivalent), accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and
• Applicants must demonstrate their interpersonal skills and suitability for Clinical Psychology in an interview. Clinical experience and knowledge of psychometrics would be an advantage.
Application forms must be submitted together with certified true copies of academic transcripts, two referees’ reports and a résumé.
Advanced StandingCredit exemption may be granted for students with tertiary qualifications from recognised institutions.
