1. Last Minutes of MeetingThe last minutes of meeting held on 27th Oct 2011 were distributed and there wereno amendments to the minutes.

2. New PSG Coordinator Mr. Kamali has resigned and Mr. Yunus will be the new PSG Coordinator.Mrs. Sheree Chong, the School Staff Developer will also join the PartnersCommittee.

3 Change of Service Provider for SFE Coordinator

Mrs. Eswaran informed that the service provider for the SFE Coordinator might bechanged in the next financial year in April 2012. The decision has yet to be madeand PSG will be informed in the near future.

4 Principal’s Update(1) Comments onYear 2011 National Examination Results

Both Express and NT stream pupils have done well in last year’s exams.They have made improvement and have done better than the previous batches.Their performance are within expectation.The NT stream pupils have shown greatest improvement where the results areabove national average for all subjects.

The NA stream pupils on the other hand have not met the school’s expectation.

The good results were attributed to enhanced programme organised by theschool. There were 10 motivational talks and close monitoring of pupil’sprogress by teachers.

Mr. Phua stressed that in order to obtain good results, consistent work andpreparation is very important.

(2) School events/activities for pupils of all levels

Mr. Phua highlighted that the list of school events/activities & study programmes

the school has planned for students of all levels are communicated to parentsthrough letters from the Principal’s desk and are handed as hard copies to thestudents. These letters can also be downloaded from the school website.Parents are strongly encouraged to read through to understand their child’sactivities in school and also as far as possible, participate in some of the schoolevents to enhance bonding with their child.

(3) Themes for studentsThis year, the themes set for the various levels are as follow :-Sec. 1 – I LOVE (to develop the love for coming to school)

Sec. 2 – I CAN (to participate in adventure base activities to give their best)

Sec. 3 – I CARE (to participate in CIP incorporated programmes to contribute to others)

Sec. 4 & 5 – I WANT (to set individual goals and aspire towards the goal)

Mr. Phua has planned to meet the Sec. 4 & 5 parents in February, after mid-year exams and after prelim. The purpose is to have constant contact with parents tolet parents understand the school’s direction in helping their child in thepreparation for the ‘O’ & ‘N’ level exams. Teacher-Parents meetings will also beconducted to help parents understand their child’s conduct & performance.

(4) Promotion of School Image

The school’s reputation has over the years improved and Mr. Phua informed thatfor the first time, the Sec. 1 intake for Year 2012 Express course has a cut off score of 189. That means, more pupils are selecting Regent Secondary as their choice school.To further promote the school image, Mr. Phua has planned to engage the

school performing arts groups to perform at the various functions at thecommunitiy level, eg, RC, community clubs, etc.

Mr. Phua has also invited a RC chairman to be an SAC member.

5 Facilitator Course For Parents

Martina Thomas has signed up and is currently attending the Module 2 of the abovecourse.

Parents who are interested to sign up for the course can download the applicationform from the MCYS website or request a copy from the SFE coordinator.

6 PSG Name TagWei Yin has done a simple PSG Name Tag and has distributed them to the PSGmembers.Tracy has come up with a few designs for the PSG T shirt. The exco will discuss thedesign at another meeting.

• Graduation Night & Alumni Home Coming – 18th Nov 2011Graduating Regenites and Ex-Regenites attended this function. Ex-teachers were

also invited.

• CCA Orientation – 14th Jan 2012Mr. Phua addressed the Sec 1 parents on the school’s mission and the series of programmes that the school have drawn up for the Sec. 1 pupils. He also stronglystressed that parents should work closely with the school to help the pupils.

SocksThe school socks are available in three different sizes, small/large/free sizes.

• Certificates of AppreciationCertificates of Appreciation were presented, to PSG members not present at thelast meeting, by Mr. Phua for their participation and contributions to school eventsin Year 2011.

• Mendaki TuitionThe tuition programme will commence in the first week of February. Thisprogramme is exclusive to Regent Secondary Sec. 4 Express and Sec 5 NAstudents.Muslims parents met representatives from Mendaki and their children wereencouraged to attend the tuition programme.

10 Next MeetingThe next PSG meeting is scheduled to be in 4 April 2012.
