    Wei Yin

    2. PSG Web PagePertaining to Mr Phuas suggestion of showing the PSG web page at the click onthe PARENTS tab, Wei Yin, after discussion with Mr. Winson Chua, explained thatthere are currently other information under Parents drop-down list that though not

controlled by PSG, are relevant to parents, i.e., to retain those information underParents and create another PSG tab on the top bar solely for the PSG webpages will not only make the already crowded top bar on the Regent website morecrowded, it will also create confusion for users: not knowing the differencebetween the 2 tabs.

However, an improvement that Winson has done was to put PSG on top of thedrop-down list instead of the last previously.

PSG web page has already been updated with past event photographs, latestmeeting minutes and updated calendar of up-coming events for parents.

    7. Any Other Matters

Pre-Notification to PSG on School EventsFor school events that involve PSG participation, Wei Yin requested the schoolto notify PSG in advance on the details of what the parent volunteers areexpected to do. This will facilitate in smooth planning and encourage more

    parent volunteers to join.

Karen had also mentioned that the school Calendar shown at the schoolwebsite currently does not contain any school event. She suggested that theschool puts in events in the calendar.

External Safety Validation on 6th July 2011The school underwent External Safety Validation (ESV) on 6th July 2011.Dialogue sessions with various staff, pupils and stakeholders of the school wereconducted and the purpose was to assess if the various group of staff, pupilsand stakeholders understands MOE / school's safety Standard OperationProcedure and guidelines and whether the school or themselves practise them.Vijay and Karen represented the PSG group and together with otherstakeholders attended the ESV dialogue session with representatives fromMOE (Building Section) and two teachers from other schools.

During the dialogue session, there are two areas pertaining to the safety of ourchildren in school which the PSG felt should be addressed :-

    (1) Provision of Sick BayPSG learnt that there is currently no sick bay available in the school andstudents that have fallen ill during school hours can only either rest on anuncomfortable sofa in the general office, in class or in the canteen to waitfor their parents to bring them home.

PSG felt strongly that there is a necessity to have a sick bay to cater for theneeds of students not feeling well.

    (2) Traffic Control at School GatesDuring morning peak hours, though both the school gates in front of thedrop-off point are opened, there is still traffic congestion at the gates. Thistraffic congestion is especially serious during rainy days.Karen suggested to control the traffic direction at the gates during peakhours. There should be NO RIGHT TURN for out-going traffic from 7 am to7.25am. This may help to ease the congestion.

Anidah suggested First Aid training for PSG members. This will be useful since

the parent volunteers will be assisting in many school events.

Ms Fern has agreed to bring up the issues to the relevant personnel in theschool administration for possible resolutions.

Updates on School Calendar and Schedule for eventsWei Yin requested the school to provide a schedule for holiday programmes inadvance. This is to allow parents to make plans for overseas trip during theschool holidays.

Ms Fern pointed out that for academic area, Mrs Low can be contacted for theschedule. However, for CCA, it will be more difficult to gather the information as

the various CCA have their own schedule.

However, Ms Fern said that generally, Sec. 1 & 2 will start their year endholidays two weeks before the official date. Sec. 3, 4 & 5 will follow the official

date with possible extra lessons in November and, free from academic classesin December.

Early dismissal of Sec. 1 & 2 is to minimise disturbances during the GCE OLevel examinations.

Sec. 4 Motivation TalksDue to poor feedback from the teachers on the motivation talks given tostudents last year, the school has decided to stop the talks and instead have thetime practise session.

Wei Yin requested that the school should seek alternative study skillsprogramme e.g. mind-mapping, for the students.

Parents suggested that such talks should be given in Sec 3 when students aremore mature and have some idea about the subjects they are studying for Olevel. Sec 4 may be a bit late to learn and practice such skills.

Ms. Fern will feedback to the school management on this issue.

    Ms Fern
