Steel production
Steel has to meet the increasing requirements for quality. This aff ects both pro-duction plants and process management, imposing specifi c requirements on both plant technology and refractory materials. Monolithic mixes and pre-fabricated parts with their increasingly effi cient binding properties have been created espe-cially for these applications. However, due to metallurgical and process engineer-ing aspects these materials are not always suitable for all processes or do not off er the user any specifi c advantages. The overall process of steel production therefore needs to be analysed and assessed.
Our philosophy is to provide “Refractories and Services in System” to increase the effi ciency, profi tability, and quality of your operations. Invisible, but indispensable – Only refractories allow the control of high temperatures.
In the fi eld of steel production, our main objective is to fi nd and off er, practical re-fractory solutions for the customer at all essential stages of steel manufacturing.
In recent years the share of monolithic products has steadily risen and castables, mixes and pre-shaped components are increasingly used.
We can provide a selection of suitable products - from the melting to trans-port and secondary metallurgy.
This market trend is a challenge that we are able to take up!
Melting
Electric arc furnaces are among the most important aggregates in steel produc-tion today. High-quality products are indispensable in order to guarantee safe processes. We can supply you with customised pre-fabricated parts such as roof deltas or material especially selected for your applications.
Secondary metallurgy
Increasing quality requirements for steel as well as best possible utilization of pro-duction capacities increasingly require a secondary metallurgy. A key position is thereby the secondary metallurgy with their reaction vessels. Each steel plant therefore needs its individual refractory lining concept. Our extensive range off ers sound solutions in accordance with your individual requirements.
Steel transport
Reliable transport systems are of the utmost importance in order to guarantee a smooth process fl ow. EKW off ers the best possible solution for your plant and ap-plications from gunning castables and castables to pre-fabricated parts.
Continuous casting
Continuous casting plants are the perfect solution when processing large produc-tion quantities quickly and effi ciently. One of the fundamental aggregates is the tundish, which is a “metallurgical aggregate” that increases its importance. Due to this, EKW’s task as a refractory-system-solver, is to develop appropriate products and engineering, e.g. dams and weirs.
