TELKOM POLYTECHNIC

1.1. BACKGROUND

As we know the growth of server nowadays increasing ever after, we have

already known that matter. As the part of the academic in Telkom Polytechnic, we

should realize the opportunity of this matter become value added future. Then

what can we do as Student Organization, HIMATEK create the solution by doing

training among several times about Redhat Enterprise Server to others. We take

the Redhat as the based concentrate because this Linux version almost powerful

ever and easy in implementing.

With creating and implementing own created server, hopefully the

students can take some advantages of it, moreover in any case of study this things

become a lesson of Telkom Polytechnic, so that the training once again as a smart

actual resolver. The other purposes as we have already take among study in NTC,

this matter about Linux Administration was so stranger and headache one, we

should break this point of view to the newbie, how to make Linux Server is fun

and easy things. After all, as the result they can take advantages about it, create

own Warnet server based on Linux, administrate Server in their work company,

even just find the fun in executing many things in Linux, or we call it Linux

Phobia.

So that this way we take the theme “Green Your Redhat Enterprise Server,

Make Powerful Server In Easy Ways” as our slogan of the training today. By

gathering all of things such as Faculties, Trainers, Students, and Team Works we

can do many more, we create the bright future of Open Source Matter in Telkom

Polytechnic, hopefully.



1.2. BASED LITERATURE

This training is proudly presented by Himatek of Telkom Polytechnic to

the all students, not only in Computer Engineering but the all degree who wants to

improve skills in administering server based on Linux Redhat Enterprise, and

absolutely this matter is match in our campus vision and mission also our

organization goal, as a legal action progress of academic ways of study, they are:

1. Tri Dharna of University

2. The vision and mission of Telkom Polytechnic gathered by the motto

Giving and Caring the World.

3. Law of Republic Indonesia no. 2 year 1992 about Scholar System of High

Education.

4. Law of Government No. 60 year 1999 about Scholar Education.

5. Work goal program of HIMATEK Telkom Polytechnic in Degree

Computer Engineering.

1.3. PURPOSE OF TRAINING

Purposes of this training can be followed as shown bellow:

1. One of the main goals in HIMATEK Telkom Polytechnic in Degree

Computer Engineering.

2. Increase the knowledgebase of students in networking manner, especially

Linux Server Technologies.

3. To overcome the laziest way of their daily activities (not just come to

campus and go home earlier) and give the smart solution server

technology based on Linux Redhat Enterprise, and other version Linux.

4. Help and improve the ability or re - mastering networking and server

technology by sharing knowledge with the faculties and tutors.

5. Create solution and implement it after the all levels training by

maximizing the sources and opportunities surrounding their environment.



1.4. NAME AND THE THEME OF TRAINING

This training we called it,



1.5. THE ENTRANT

The entrant of visitor who can join this training is all Telkom Polytechnic

Degree members, they are should come from Information System, Computer

Engineering and Accounting Computerization in all level of years, but we just

limit the people just 50 people.

1.6. THE TIME AND PLACE OF TRAINING

This training is divided into three levels and will be held at:

- Level I Basic Learning Linux SystemTime : April 25, 2010 at 09.00 A.M – 14.00 P.MPlace : Seminar Room 2nd Floor of Telkom Polytechnic Campus

- Level II Medium Redhat Enterprise Server AdministrationTime : May 02, 2010 at 09.00 A.M – 14.00 P.MPlace : Seminar Room 2nd Floor of Telkom Polytechnic Campus

- Level III General Purpose of Linux and Introduction of Other Server Linux Time : May 09, 2010 at 09.00 A.M – 14.00 P.MPlace : Seminar Room 2nd Floor of Telkom Polytechnic Campus



1.7. COMPLETE STEPS TRAINING

This is very personal and limited experiences in mastering Redhat

Enterprise Server and will be held as training levels, here is the detail of our

course:

- Level I Basic Learning Linux SystemIn this level the students will get the basic essential of system Linux, the

different between Windows and Linux or UNIX technology, basic CLI

command in Linux administration, introducing module, kernel,

management packet, update system, and general purpose of Linux Server.

- Level II Medium Redhat Enterprise Server AdministrationIn this level the students will get the medium tutorials about administering

the real server technologies inside Redhat Enterprise Linux, such as Web

Server, DNS Server, FTP Server, DHCP Server, Proxy Server, Sharing

File and Printer.

- Level III General Purpose of Linux and Introduction of Other Server Linux In this level the students will get the step installation of freeBSD, Solaris

and also get the overview general purposes of Linux usage such as

installing Modem in Linux and many more.

1.8. WHAT CAN STUDENT GET?

Actually every person that follows the training will get certificate in every

levels assigned by Telkom Polytechnic (Mr. Cristanto Tri Wibisono), and get the

modules of each level. In the academic one, this will be sugested to be ASPRAK

Network System Administration in the Next Semester. Especially for HIMATEK

Member will get the discount 35 % of Payment.



1.9. TEAM WORK TRAINING

The detail of our team work training “Green your Redhat Enterprise

Server, Make Powerful Server in Easy Ways” can be shown bellow at appendix I.

Actually we need some cost implementation to undergo the training during

levels of “Green your Redhat Enterprise Server, Make Powerful Server in Easy

Ways” as patched in appendix II.

1.12. CLOSSING

All the thanks belong to Allah SWT ever after, because the entire training

will not run well if Allah doesn’t want. Then we hope as the runner of the event,

this once become the solution over smart, easy and fun way in studying the lesson.

Hopefully, all entire academic in Telkom Polytechnic can help this event;

especially the faculties and the tutors also the students succeeded the event. The
