The spring/summer seasons always bring with them a degree of heat, but SS14 is truly, irresistibly seductive. Beautiful tactile fabrics – silks, satins, soft wools – beg to caress your skin. A palette of blush, putty, peach and rose, highlighted by magpie embellishments, could create a girlish effect, but instead conjures images of a woman in complete control – a woman who knows her allure is a combination of confidence, awareness

and mystery.

Truly, the fashion media seems to be dogged by a very persistent set of stereotypes. So let me take this opportunity to clear the air: It’s not true. At promo, we eat, more than regularly (follow us on Instagram to see the stream of macarons and cupcakes that we tuck away). We laugh (usu-ally at terribly nerdy Game of Thrones puns—it’s a pretty direwolf situation). We genuinely enjoy each other’s company in the office (which we

do not leave at midday to get blowouts) and outside its walls. Really, we’re an altogether normal bunch.

But back to irrational love: It’s fair to say that women’s abiding passion for pumps, platforms, sandals, boots, tiny jeweled handbags, crystal bikinis, Céline’s perfect leather dress, etc., is not completely understood as a mere expression of the need to cover our nakedness, any more than men’s enthusiasm for watching football is just because there’s nothing better to do on Sunday nights. Both: irrational! I have found that the

“shoes are to women what sports are to men” analogy sometimes actually works. I mean, all of us can understand being passionate about some-thing we can’t explain.

With thigh-high dresses and side-slit skirts on the rise—just take a second look at Kendell Jenner’s double-whammy in a revealing Fausto Puglisi dress—there’s a new area to focus your workout on, the lady V. Stars such as Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Demi Moore have all flaunted their defined V’s over the years, and while it’s typically an attribute we’ve admired on the guys, the ladies are starting to pay attention.

Known officially as your ‘pelvic line,’ the V extends from the top of your hip to the groin area and, with some specific muscle toning and body sculpting exercises, even yours can look as taut as Jenner’s. We chatted with celebrity fitness instructor Joey Gonzalez from Barry’s Bootcamp (he’s trained Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Biel!) and discovered a few muscle emphasizing workout moves that can help you achieve a Jenner-worthy lady V this summer.

The Alphabet

“This is an easy one to do at home in front of the television,” says Gonzalez. “Simply lay on your back, place your hands under your bot-tom at the lowest point of your spine, and raise your legs four inches off the floor. Then begin drawing the letters of the alphabet with your toes, as if there were a chalkboard in front of them. See how many letters you can draw before collapsing.”

The Stomach Vacuum

“This became popular with bodybuilders in the ‘80s and ‘90s and is really simple. Suck in your stomach as far in as it will go, and hold for 8-10 seconds. You’ll be surprised at how hard it is!”

The Plank

“The plank is one of the best exercises to achieve the lady V, and toned abs in general. The most important thing is to hold the plank until the point of exhaustion, or until you collapse. For some people this is 30 seconds, for others it’s two minutes.”
