ProjectWise Web Explorer Lite is an easy way to View, Download, Search and Compare Plans stored in a ProjectWise Datasource.
Consultants & DOTD Engineers can Collaborate on one platform VIA the INTERNET…

ProjectWise Explorer
The ProjectWise Explorer Client is the primary application we use at LADOTD for Plans Management.
Stores PROJECT DATA CAD files and related files such as: .DGN’s, .PDF’s and INROADS file-types.
INTERFACE is ideal for Managing DATA CREATION & IN-PROCESS WORKFLOW.
ProjectWise Resolves FILE MGT Issues.
ProjectWiseAPPLICATION INTEGRATION
ProjectWise enables us to accomplish our day-to-day ProjectWise Tasks directly from the applications we typically use
EX: When a User Opens a Design File Starts MicroStation

Before ProjectWise:
• PROJECTS SPREAD OUTProjects were spread out. Road Design, Bridge Design, Survey, etc. all had their own project folder on different servers.
• DIFFICULT ACCESS TO DATAData access between sections was spotty, depending on mapped drives and word of mouth.
Before ProjectWise:
• INCONSISTENT FOLDER STRUCTUREProject folder structure was somewhat standard on the gang level but could vary from gang to gang.
• LIMITED SECURITYSecurity for active projects varied from poor to good at best.
Before ProjectWise:
•NO BUILT IN WORKFLOWWork flow security; if exercised, wasperformed by manually changing windowfolder security.
•LIMITED ELECTRONIC COLLABORATIONThe ability to know who did what andwhen depended on word of mouth.
Project collaboration involved consultantsand DOTD exchanging email, CDs.
After Original ProjectWise Implementation:
• PROJECTS CENTRALIZEDAll project plans reside on one centralizedserver and project folder.
• IMPROVED DATA ACCESSBetween design groups statewidebecause of project centralization
• CONSISTENT FOLDER STRUCTUREProject folder structure is controlled by standard project templates.
After Original ProjectWise Implementation:
• INCREASED PROJECT SECURITYSecurity has been redesigned.
• WORKFLOW SECURITYStandardized workflow security makes it easy to vary security through the various stages of the project.
• AUDIT TRAILThe ability to know who did what andwhen, is facilitated by the Audit Trail.
After Original ProjectWise Implementation:
• EFFICIENT PROJECT CLLABORATIONProject collaboration, involving DOTD andconsultants working and exchanging data ona centralized data management platform, is now exercised as needed.

New Project Template
Developing: Researching current design processes Creating unique access lists per discipline Internal and External needs… Internal Example: “Bridge Designer” has write
privileges on the Bridge Facilities folder. “Road Designer” has write privileges on the Road-Site folder.
External Example: “External Consultants” Their list and it’s security is only applied to their consultant folder.
New Project Template
Testing: Centered around security schemas and
their effects on the end users associated task.
Ex: Consultants can only see their folders documents and not other consultants’ data…
Ex: Folder Arranged by DOTD disciplines Road Site, Bridge Facilities, Survey
New Project Template
Applying: Everyday Real-Life scenarios continues to
be the most effective way to polish the folder structures’ naming convention and appropriate security access list changes. DOTD has a lot of turnover that also affects the access lists.
