Project Zero

Presentation 3Operations Method

INITIAL OPERATIONS METHOD: PACKAGE/CONTRACT BASED

• The organisation operates based on four different levels, each of these carries with it a number of services, before all of this operates as a fully functioning organisation at the end of the full launch sequence, it has to start small. Thus, in the initial year of launch, it will be offered as a package, agreed based on contract with specific collaborators.

Possible Combinations

• The only variables are in terms of 1. The audience/location 2. General Project Zero operations/ specifically Islamic-based projects. 3. The number of potential contractors per year.

• Thus, an example for a first year package could be:• 1. Regular Project Zero service, Summer, Uni. Target Users. 1 Contract [5

months].[The service would include a mix from operation level 1-4, including 1. Political Activism, 2. Educational Programmes, 3. Consultation: e.g. Marriage Service/Housing and Employment/Business Management. 4. Lifestyle: Health/Fitness workshop/Mental Health/Sober Technique. End.]• 2. Islamically Based Projects, Summer, Mosque/Uni Target Users. 1

Contract [5 months].• Same mix, but with Islamically geared variants.

Product Mix: Expanded

• Any collaborator can choose what they want included in their version of the package. Project Zero has 4 levels of operation: political activism, consultation/social elements, education and lifestyle.

• In Level 4: If the target/user wants to use the Islamic Projects package, they will get to pursue political activism in the regions designated on zeroislamicworld.wordpress.com. If they want to pursue political activism in the West and in the UK in particular, they will pursue the regions designated on zerowesternpolitics.wordpress.com. It can further be broken down, the Level 4 users can choose one region in particular if they wish.

• In Level 3: The user can choose Marriage Bureau and Housing/Employment Bureau, or any other mix.

• In Level 2: They can choose from different aspects of the educational service, e.g. research method with Psychology/Business Studies, or research method with something from the Islamic Studies subject list.

• In Level 1: The motivational service is Sober Technique for a Western audience, and ‘Sufi Training’ for an Islamic audience. The mental health service for a Western audience is ‘Zero Psychology’, the mental health service for the Islamic audience is altered to suit particular problems. Health and Fitness is the same general advice. Also there is a variance in our entertainment products, i.e. Insanity Media vs. Islamic Media.

Islamic Projects Product Mix

• The Islamic Projects Product Mix is more easily organised. All it consists of is:• 1. Intro to Islamic Studies teams[11 teams, 11 a side] LEVEL 2• 2. Counter Wahhabism Programme. LEVEL 4• 3. Lifestyle Programmes/Sports competitions LEVEL 1• 4. Community Initiative= Marriage Bureau/Other Level 3's/Fun trips LEVEL 3

• The calendar for the prep/execution of Project Zero activities in an Islamic setting, i.e. Mosques, takes a period of 3 months, including both before and after the month of fasting.

• The squads who participated in the activity later become the central point of activity for the rest of the community after the termination of the project.

• It is ideal that the Mosques/Centres be affiliated with Sufism.• When a package is installed in one location, it will become possible for us to organise

replicating the package in all other similar locations in that area, we have a Mosque and Community watch sheet, and it is our aim to have all of those filled up within the next year or so, if not, we will just operate in Luton/London.

• We stop activity after Summer. There is no activity for Islamic Community initiatives after the Summer ends, it begins again in the same manner the next year.

-• This is the core energy source for the rest of Project Zero. And it is the easiest way

to get a full picture of the method the organisation works. This is also the easiest way to promote the organisation to be used in non-Muslim communities, since we can physically demonstrate our product/service works.

• If a similar package to this is desired in a Western context, we need to collaborate with some other organisation, such as Unis or other groups of random people who come together to ask help from Project Zero. The thing is with Western society, they do not allow us to identify suitable targets as easily as Islamic society, where we can just go to a Mosque/Islamic centre, they have no such equivalent, we can only approximate who the target will be, e.g. Unis, etc.

• REPLICATION POSSIBLE:• Yes, a non-Islamic version can be launched but not in the Summer, it will be

launched in the Winter and it will be called 'Project Zero: Global Justice Initiative', it will run on the same template as the Islamic version.

Commencement Procedure

• Commencement Procedure is:• 1. Casual Meeting.• 2. Focus Group.• 3. Trial.• 4. Contract & Execution.

• If these steps can be shortened, then that is superior, but if the client is picky, it helps to go through each stage.

Interested Parties?

• It is ideal that we have a stable number of interested parties (e.g. 200) standing by as default.

• This helps the organisation when it approaches collaborators.• Anyone can gather a list of interested parties if he/she wants to create a

Project Zero branch in his/her region. • The first interested parties group (in London) will form the basis of those

who attend the monthly meetings and they can serve as the temporary recruits until further progress is made, so basically the launch and execution of our project is suspended only so long as it takes to gather 200 interested individuals.

-• Participants are grouped into teams of 5 or 11. This is discussed further in

recruitment. This facilitates team building exercises and smooth transition from one level of activity to another.

Use of Trials

• We give the client a chance to have a trial of the Project Zero package using a 'showpiece', one of our products that we are particularly excited about and that we feel they will enjoy. The trial is the beginning of any deal, and gives users a better chance to judge if the service is something they want.

Recruitment/Collaboration

• We can look at recruitment/collaboration w/partners after a trial has taken place and a client is secured. If we have not selected any party to give a trial to, and no client is secured who will host a Project Zero package, there is no recruitment/collaboration. Having many recruits/collaborators standing by with no clear activity in place breeds carelessness and havoc, as it will allow us to contemplate activity without us having any clear intention of our own, this leads to 'maybe' work as opposed to 'definitely' work, and should be discouraged at all costs. When we recruit/collaborate, it is for a strict purpose, for strict roles, and when the project/work ends, the recruits are terminated also. This must be maintained until we can ensure long term funding for the organisation and its activities, and permanent recruitment can take place.

• If we do ever recruit without any project booked, it would be in the form of ‘Interested Parties’, who take part in cyber activism while waiting for public projects.

Funding

• Funding is for our on-going quest for a) Headquarters and b) funds to pay salaries of official employees.

• It is our preference to receive funding from the rich and guilty rather than poor and innocent, taking funding from the latter is disliked.

• Do our services cost anything? No, everything designed is essentially free, money can be demanded only for minor organisational costs, or because it is a unique service, and that we demand money for it in order to be competitive, or because we do not wish to give people an excuse to fund our competitors, i.e. "we have to use those guys because they depend on it for a living".

Employment/Franchising

• Mini versions of the Project can begin all over the world, countless individuals are allowed to pursue our agendas/activities on their own timetables, using our name, to gather funds, recruits, users, etc, and perform activities on any level they choose, at any time. All they have to do is 1. make the intention sincerely. 2. choose which area of the project they think they are suited for and confirm with us. 3. find a suitable local partner/host to collaborate with. 4. execute the chosen activity, collect funds/recruits for their local branch of Project Zero, take a reasonable portion for themselves and send the rest to us to store in our House Fund, which is our central monetary source used for saving up until we can afford to be launched on a permanent basis.

Marketing/Donations

• Realistically, our products/services are so neutral and universal they can be marketed almost anywhere. This requires us to narrow down who we communicate to for services. Of course, it is our preference that people get into contact with us rather than the other way around, this would save us time and effort. However, another type of marketing we use is that before introducing the product as a trial to certain groups/individuals, we devise a marketing approach to make sure that the deal is locked.

• The principle behind a marketing technique is that we make the service look easy to use and we lessen the weight of it on the mind of the user, So we emphasise that it is similar to something they have seen before and we also emphasise that we will only be there for a short amount of time.

• For recruitment, targeting key venues/groups/institutions on principle is allowed, sometimes we go somewhere we know there is a need/problem. For RECRUITMENT, we may place advertisements in key venues/institutions, prior to the commencement of any project package, then we carry out interviews. USERS are targeted after the completion of preparation for a project, they are located by RECRUITS. FOR DONORS, there is also general advertisement placed and interview also takes place, close to commencement of any project package. FOR CONTRACTS: a trial is offered to potential COLLABORATORS, and then we go through elimination process to decide who we will work with for that year.

• Asking for donations is another way to recruit and find stakeholders, it means they will want to listen about the organisation, this is another way to arrange contracts also.

• Once the recruits are gathered and trained for that years' project, and the organisation is mobile, we can do the process of engaging the surrounding community w/ mkt. research and then performing operations in response to the perceived need in the community.

Operation Method: Public Activities- Phase 2

• Public activity is organised by collaborating with any consenting organisations and signing a contract indicating intention to collaborate with some aspect of Project Zero's activity, and through this, advertising, recruitment and potential sources of funding are considered.

• Asides from focus groups and meeting prospective users/recruits:• There need to be public events for each of the main elements of the

Project:• 1-Sober Technique. 2. Zero Lifestyles. 3. Global Justice Initiative. 4. Sunni

Awareness Initiative. 5. Project Zero [as a whole]. 6. Zero Education/ICES. 7. Global Information Service. 8. Training/Logistics.

• Sober Technique: One session a month/bi-weekly. [Venue can be used for other lifestyle operations as well, as part of ‘Life in Focus’ programme].

• Project Zero: Single Annual Conference to take place after Global Justice and Sunni Awareness annual conference. Monthly/Bi-Monthly sessions to raise awareness for general cause.

• Education: Monthly Sessions with selected clients/users + monthly releases through website.

• Every 5/6 Months: General conference for targets/ to raise awareness.• Casual visitations/observations/consultations. (To schools & Unis).• Global Information Services: Monthly Release. One monthly session. • Training/Logistics: As and when necessary, we need to hold Training

sessions/ Logistics meetings to talk about operational/technical details of activity. At least 3 or 4 a year.

Cyber & Public Activity Combined…

• CYBER ACTIVITY: Each website has some background information and pages which contain either a) principles or b) quotations. As well as both a) links and b) resources, which are the foundations for sporadic posts/freeflow writing. Thus, website work consists of a) combing the principles and resources to create content and b) spreading this information using mailing lists and social media.

• PUBLIC ACTIVITY: Using website content, we meet and gather to discuss material from the websites &engage in activities related to that material. That websites are the basis of public activities has two implications:

• It is the basis of ‘Public Events’,• It is the basis of ‘Office Work’.

Cyber & Public Activity Combined…

• The websites are also the basis of communication with a) targets, who view it and message us using the contact form, and b) recruits, who we also communicate with in ‘Focus Groups’ which generate general interest in our activities.

• Focus Groups are organised either a) by email or b) over the phone. Focus Groups do not need to have any strategic goal, they are just for general interest building.

Admin Week Vs Activity Week

• Admin Week: Represents activity template involving contacting potential targets and establishing focus groups for people who will a) like the service and b) aid its growth and facilitate its execution.

• Activity Week: Indicates weekly template where most activity revolves around running public sessions, which are the essence of the activity of Project Zero, or equally pursuing tasks for special operations, using office work, or private collaborative efforts.

• These elements combine to create the essential activity/operation method for all Project Zero related work.

The Nitty Gritty: How They Are Run.

• LEVEL 4 ACTIVITIES:• Technically, there are two Level 4 activities, i.e. for the two different

branches/offices of Project Zero. They can collaborate on similar issues or work towards issues that are specific to their respective jurisdiction. For special operations/collaborative efforts, such as the Counter Terror activities, a variation between office work and activity specific to the operation, such as confronting and gathering all individuals who are suspected terrorists will need to take place. For general activities, a variation between general office work/gathering information and focus groups will need to take place. Also, for general activities, there can be public activities where we hold conferences/events based on our office/collaborative work.

• For Counter Terror operations, collaborative efforts will need to take place with police and military officials, there will need to be recruitment of able operatives to perform the various roles assigned as part of our Counter Terror activities, and there will need to be arrangement of necessary facilities for the activity to take place. There will need to be stakeholders and supervisors also.

How They Are Run, continued…

• LEVEL 3 ACTIVITIES:

• Level 3.0: Social Consultation Services:• Requires a mix between office work, collaborative efforts and public events.

• E,g: Marriage Bureau:• OFFICE WORK= Research on related issues to inform the efficiency of the service. Taking cases, i.e.

collecting and filing forms submitted/performing areas of the service that require office work, i.e. matching/ meeting clients/ processing legal documents.

• COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS= Meeting with partner organisations for collaborative efforts, going to their location and sharing elements of our service with them to help create unique events through the medium of ‘Marriage Bureau’.

• PUBLIC ACTIVITY= Conferences for speed-dating/matching services/ wedding events/ advertising the service or providing presentations/information specific to its benefit.

• E.G: Housing and Employment Directive:• OFFICE WORK= Research on related issues to inform the efficiency of the service. Taking cases, i.e.

collecting and filing forms submitted, meeting clients, focus groups with collaborative partners.• PUBLIC ACTIVITY= Meeting with prospective partner organisations at specific locations to facilitate

unique events conducive to the aims of ‘Housing and Employment Directive’, events/conferences aimed at generating awareness of the service/explaining elements of its strategy.

• LEVEL 2 ACTIVITIES:• The activities for the Level 2 division of Project Zero will take place in the same manner as the

previous levels, with minor modifications to suit the activity type and target audience.• KEY TERMS:• Cyber Activity/Public Activity. Admin Week/Activity Week.• For educational activity, there will be a similar mix between office work/indoor activity and

collaborative efforts/public activity.• OFFICE WORK= Any type of activity related to research/study of relevant material to aid

activity. Any type of activity related to website admin/ creating content. Administrative activity related to clients/cases, as well as holding meetings/Focus Groups.

• COLLABORATIVE= Travelling to meet prospective collaborators and partner groups, discussing nature of potential collaborative projects/ holding events at location.

• PUBLIC ACTIVITY: Travelling to facilitate unique events/workshops, to explain its benefits to prospective users/targets, or simply to hold some type of event related to some subject area which Zero Education wishes to deliver information regarding.

• This is a general summary of how Level 2 activities operate, and also, we have mentioned that the website based activity is the basis of what is discussed in public activity, so mostly it will involve office work.

How They Are Run, continued…

How They Are Run, continued…

• LEVEL 1 ACTIVITIES:• Includes ‘Zero Lifestyles’ and ‘Sober Technique’ which operate a similar style of

service. The same rule applies that public activity is based around work performed online/through websites, e.g. office work. Lifestyle operations are slightly different however because they are mostly general and not very complex, so they can be operated on a much more wider basis, without the need for much specialism.

• OFFICE WORK= ‘Admin Week’ related activity, Focus Groups with prospective users/stakeholders + creating website content for use in public sessions/ communicating with stakeholders/users through social media.

• COLLABORATIVE= ‘Activity Week’ related activity: Travelling to meet prospective collaborators and partner groups/focus groups, discussing nature of potential collaborative projects/ holding events at location/public sessions.

• The rest of the lifestyle activities operate on a similar scale, we would have to allot a timescale for each service to operate in a balanced way, at this stage, we do not perceive they will be able to operate simultaneously.

Training/Emergency Ops.

• TRAINING• As a social benefit organisation, we want to take part in the effort to spread skills, this

includes training for vocational skills, other professional skills, skills which are particular to various aspects of our organisation and its activities, and also other things such as self defence, personality/teamwork development skills, martial arts, etc.

• We will need to hold two types of training sessions on a frequent basis, the first is general training to cover essential skills we require our employees to have, and the second is special training, if there is any area we feel we wish to engage in training for, we will have to arrange for a relevant specialist to hold a specific training session. It will classify as a ‘Public Event’, however it will only be available for those individuals for whom the training is intended.

• EMERGENCY OPERATIONS.• This is a special division of the organisation, it relates to all concerns/cases submitted which

are viewed as pressing/urgent matters, most likely on a variety of issues which cannot be neatly allocated to each particular division because of urgency, or because those divisions may not be currently operating, and so the case will be passed over to the emergency operations division so that relevant action is pursued towards it. It will operate on an office/website basis with necessary public activity as required.

Launch Technique/Stages of Activity

• 1. Spreading general awareness + gathering ‘Interested Parties’, enough to generate funds/manpower. Contract based bespoke activities/events. [This is where clients provide the venue and supply volunteers for the event, this will be pursued until sufficient resources/manpower has been gathered for the commencement of the second stage].

• 2. Hold one full year of events as described in ‘Operations Method’. Gaining legitimacy, consistent customer base and regular funding/recruitment. At this stage we invite users/targets to a larger venue, we no longer require their help to hold events at this stage.

• 3. Begin to operate formally throughout all levels of operation, establishing offices for each specific department, steadily growing in size while solving cases only which were formally submitted or encountered through department specific activities. At this stage, sufficient funding will be available to have office buildings and security.

• 4. Formal operations can continue, but another division for sporadic activity can be created, which simulates a scenario similar to the beginning days of the operation, where random cases were identified through newspapers and TV, and we used to sit and wonder what could be done about them. We would have a division with no specific jurisdiction that seeks out cases sporadically and then works towards them, either using a specific department as a base or operating individually. This symbolises Project Zero completing its course, coming full circle.
