    CHAPTER 1SITUATION ANALYSIS & DEFINING THE PROBLEM

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    OBJETIVE OF THE STUDY

    The main objective of the study is to understand how the concept ofEmployee Engagement is conducted in organizations and its significancein the Human Resource Management.

    The project titled Employee Engagementis prepared in four phases. Theyare:

    Phase 1- General introduction to Employee engagement, as this conceptis slowly and steadily emerging across the corporate world. This alsoincludes the different kinds of employees that one can find in anyorganization, factors affecting employee engagement, merits of havingengaged employees in an organization etc. The data source for thesedetails is mainly the published details on the topic Employee

    Engagement.

    Phase 2- Employee engagement in TCS. This phase includes howemployee engagement is defined by TCS; how they practice employeeengagement as well as how important it is for TCS to engage itsemployees. The data source for this is my observations and detailscollected from the TCS-ers.

    Phase 3- Survey- A convenient survey is done on 50 TCS-ers who joinedthe firm recently. The objective of the survey was to find whether the

    newly joined employees of the TCS find Maitree activities as beneficialand the opinion they have about Maitree activities. It also focuses on theemployees general opinion about TCS and how they feel to be associatedwith TCS.

    Phase 4-Analysis, findings, conclusions & recommendations made on thebasis of the survey conducted.
