Training villages @ AfricaSTEMI Live!

Alongside the plenary Scientific sessions are parallel training villages in which a specific skill will be transferred to participants of AfricaSTEMI. The training villages will invite participants during the pre-congress workshop and during the exhibition breaks. This year we are pleased to announce five skill transfer stations across the africaSTEMI training villages.

1. Point of Care Ultrasound. Hands-on session. This will be held at the Phillips Training village on Friday 26th April. This session will be for POCUS congress attendees and will involve hands-on scanning of real patients with clinical pathology. An additional session will be held at the GE Healthcare training village.

2. How to perform PCI. This will be held at the Boston Scientific training village on Friday 26th April and Saturday 27th April. A wet model has been flown in from South Africa. Participants will be able to learn hand skills and tips and tricks for performing percutaneous coronary intervention including wire exchange techniques and guide catheter and balloon delivery.

3. How to thrombolyse. This will be held at the GE training village on Friday 26th April. Participants will be shown how to perform a 12 lead ECG, transmit to a dedicated ECG diagnosis team, and make decisions on performance of thrombolysis including assessment of indications and contraindications and types of agents.

4. Stress ECG testing. This will be held at the GE training village on Saturday 27th April. Participants will be shown how to perform and interpret stress ECG testing.

5. Coronary physiology. This will be held at the Phillips training village on Saturday 27th April.

Attendees at the pre-congress workshops will be given priority but bookings will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. To book a place at any of the training villages, please visit the Phillips, Boston Scientific, and GE booths for a dedicated slot.
