Steve Woerner Haroon Patel, M.D. Driscoll Children’s Hospital
In March of 2015, Driscoll Children’s Hospital began a journey – a rare
journey one in 50 million in the making.
Seventy minutes after conjoined twins Scarlett and Ximena were born they
were transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
The twins were cared for in Driscoll’s Level IV NICU for 11 months as a
team of physicians and surgeons prepared for their separation.
Join us as Steve Woerner, President and CEO of Driscoll Health System, and
Haroon Patel, M.D., pediatric surgeon and team leader, share the amazing
story of caring for and separating the first conjoined twins in South Texas.

Honduras Water Project 2016-17
We are supporting an important
water project in Honduras this year.
We need to raise $10,500 for the
project and then apply for a
grant from the Rotary Foundation.
This project is done in memory of
Bill Hennings. Thanks to
contributions after his death for the
project and other clubs joining us,
more than half of the money has
already been raised. More
information begins on Page 3.

Dear Rotary Club of Corpus Christi,
I am writing you this letter because I
would like to thank you for selecting me
as a recipient for the Rotary Club of
Corpus Christi scholarship of $3,500. I
am both thrilled and honored to accept
this generous amount and I cannot
possibly express how grateful I am over
paper. It will most definitely aid me in
my future endeavors and lift a financial
burden off my shoulders. I would also
like to thank you for taking the time to
review my application and for seeing
the qualities in me that would allow me
to receive such an esteemed
scholarship. Lastly, I would just like to
thank you for all the work you do on
behalf of the city of Corpus Christi. I
have read about your organization and
your overall mission and message is
inspiring.
Thank you once again for everything.
Sincerely,
Gabriella Ybarra
