Friday, Sept. 24 @ 8PM The program features a collection of prominent African American scientists that includes Brown University’s Wayne Bowen, Emory University’s George Jones, The Ohio State University Medical Center’s Kwame Osei, and the University of California, San Francisco’s John Watson. Moderated by WBNS news anchor Jerry Revish, the program focuses on life from brain cells to fungus to the human heart.

Roger B. Chaffee is the Apollo astronaut you've never met. Acclaimed by fellow NASA astronauts,

Roger was a brilliant young man whose future was tragically cut short. He, along with Gus Grissom

and Ed White, were killed when a fire erupted inside their Apollo capsule. Sadly, the moon landing

was a success because of their sacrifice. Many documentary films have told the story of the moon

landing, but Roger's part in that story has not. NASA astronauts Mike Collins, Gus Grissom

and Jack Lousma help tell why this space rookie was a great choice to pilot Apollo 1.

This program captures the life of Wendell Castle, a master furniture artist, designer, sculptor and educator, and traces his prolific career through the decades. Through Castle’s own words and interviews with family, friends and colleagues, viewers also learn about his early years as an artist, his creative process and the vision for his work. Castle (1932-2018) is often credited as the "father of American Studio Furniture and Art Furniture Movements," joining function with fine art. More than 100 of his works are installed in museums and galleries worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Explore interviews, insights and artistic expressions from some of the nation’s most

significant and prolific literary voices with a glimpse into their creative processes and

environments. This hour-long special delivers highlights from this year's National Book Festival
