The philosophy of the Newington Public School Library Media Program is to ensure that all students and staff have the skills and opportunity to access, evaluate and use information. Through collaboration, library media specialists support curriculum, teach information literacy skills and foster an appreciation of literature.
• Stand-alone curriculum and lessons.
• Well-defined, integrated curriculum.
• Information literacy skills taught in isolation from classroom curriculum.
• Instruction integrated into and across content areas, K-12.
• Developed by library media specialists in isolation.
• Developed in cooperation with other educators.
