1st Ultrasound Masterclasses Live 2017Preface
Dear colleagues,Ultrasound has become one of the most important diagnostic features in medicine, and an in-creasing number of healthcare providers in all specialist fi elds are embarking on the journey to master ultrasound skills. 123sonography and 3rd Rock Ultrasound are your partners in achieving this goal. Many of you are already familiar with our online classes and live courses.
This September we will present our “1st Ultrasound Masterclasses Live” in Vienna. The purpose of this event is to bring your skills to the next level. For four days in one of Europe’s great cities, we off er you a unique opportunity to participate in eleven diff erent courses ranging from intro-ductory material to highly advanced applications. So it doesn´t matter whether you are a curious beginner or experienced sonographer, this is the meeting you want to attend.
All courses will feature some of the world’s best speakers as well as extensive hands-on training. You will be able to work with a wide variety of ultrasound systems from the leaders in ultrasound technology, but also look at some amazing new products from start-up companies with innova-tive strategies for bedside ultrasound utilization. There will be unique seminars about a wide range of topics that will highlight new technologies and ultrasound applications relevant to your clinical practice. This is an opportunity to hear about what the industry leaders are thinking, provide them with feedback, and network with colleagues who share your interests.
Finally, bring your family. We have arranged for this meeting to be held in a truly special venue in the heart of beautiful Vienna. Special sightseeing events have been arranged. Shopping and great food are short walks in every direction. Mark your calendars now to join us this September.

Christian Aiginger, MD Wilfried Röthy, MD Ulrike Handler, MD
Hailing from Vienna, Dr. Christian Aiginger studied medicine in his home town and specialised in in-ternal medicine and ultrasound di-agnostics. He then lectured at the Medical University of Vienna for nine years, and became the head of the Ultrasound Diagnostics Department at a hospital in Vienna. Dr. Aiginger is also Course Instructor (level 3) of the Austrian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ÖGUM) and chairman of the training school ´Collegium acad. for Ultrasound Diagnostics including CEUS´. He loves to teach colleagues how to use sonography for their daily use, his enthusiasm for this fascinat-ing medical tool is clearly visible in all his courses and lectures. Christian Aiginger regularly takes part in the European ultrasound congresses, in October 2017 he is chairman at the European meeting dealing with ab-dominal sonography and CEUS (con-trast enhanced ultrasound).
Dr. Röthy received his medical de-gree from the Medical University of Vienna where he later complet-ed his internship and residency as well as surgery and cardiac surgery fellowship. His research activities led him to Columbia University College of Physicians and Sur-geons (NYC), one of the leading centers in the world for physiology of blood flow, ventricular mechan-ics and hemodynamics. Dr. Röthy has been principal and co-inves-tigator for numerous clinical trials that have helped shape the field including angiogenesis, heart fail-ure, mechanical circulatory sup-port, physiology of blood flow and hemodynamics. He has a strong passion to vascular ultrasound and teaching. His goal is enabling peo-ple to experience something sur-passing their expectations.
After studying Medicine at the Med-ical University in Vienna Dr. Ulrike Handler started her medical career at St. Josef´s Hospital in Vienna, where she was trained in internal medi-cine and diagnostic ultrasound. She soon found her fascination in this diagnostic method and specialized on abdominal ultrasound, includ-ing contrast-enhanced ultrasound. After finishing her medical educa-tion she certificated as tutor of the Austrian Association for Abdominal Ultrasound (ÖGUM) and started to teach abdominal ultrasound togeth-er with her colleague, Dr. Christian Aiginger. Dr. Ulrike Handler is cur-rently senior physician at Herz Jesu Hospital in Vienna, where she is also responsible for ultrasound training of the assistants doctors of the inter-nal department. She met Dr. Thom-as Binder during a resident stay in the echocardiography laboratory at the Medical University in Vienna. In 2015 she joined the online teaching platform 123sonography, where she, toghether with Dr. Christian Aiginger, teaches abdominal ultrasound to a worldwide community.
Jutta Bergler-Klein, MD Anna Maria Pistritto, MD
At the Medical University of Vien-na, Prof. Jutta Bergler-Klein heads the cardiac outpatient clinic. She is currently chair of the Echo Working Group of the Austrian Society of Car-diology and involved in the European EACVI, and fellow of the ESC. Special research interests are valve disease and cardio-oncology. As cardiologist she is deeply convinced that echo presents the most important tool for quick and precise diagnosis. We just can´t go without it!
Dr. Anna Maria Pistritto is from Italy. She studied medicine at the Medical Uni-versity of Catania and started her medical career at the A. Ferrarotto Hospital in Catania, where she was trained in cardiology and diagnostic ultrasound. She applied cardiac ultrasound in many interesting fields of medicine, such as pulmonary hypertension and interventional cardiology. She spent 2 years of her specialization at the Vienna General Hospital, with Prof. T. Binder and Prof. I. Lang. There she was further trained in advanced echocardiography, especially transesophageal echocardiography, and she improved her knowl-edge on pulmonary hypertension. In 2015 she joined the online teaching platform 123sonography, where she, toghether with Prof. Binder, teaches cardiac ultrasound to a worldwide community. Dr. Anna Maria Pistritto is now cardiologist and works at the Imperia Hospital in Liguria, Italy.
