What Causes Erosion?

Shoreline Restoration BMP’s 1) The erosion control device must provide strength and

integrity to support newly established vegetation.

2) The erosion control device must wick and retain water and nutrients to effectively support the health of newly established vegetation.

3) The erosion control device must provide safe ingress and egress zones for wildlife and aquatic life.

4) The erosion control device must contain appropriate organic material to provide safe and effective biodegradability, without causing additional contamination.

5) The erosion control device must provide filtration of invasive nutrients and pollutants in order to protect the water quality.

•Tubes of geotextile fabric filled with materials such as sediment, sand, natural fibers and are considered to be a hard armored surface.

•Available in both pre-filled and un-filled variations.

•Once filled, the units are placed into position and staked into the shore bed or hillside using only above ground stakes.

•They may be constructed from a variety of materials, most commonly: reinforced concrete, wood, boulders, steel, or gabions.
