Welcome to our exhibition edition celebrating the launch of our new company Iona

Waste Systems. We hope that you enjoy the information we have provided for you on our new company. Having spent 25 years in the mobile crushing and screening industry, initially with the Powerscreen Group and then my own start up company Fintec, which has subsequently been acquired by Sandvik, the opportunity arose that enabled me to start up Iona Waste Systems. Iona are a small dynamic local company based in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, which comprises of a strong management team. We are extremely focused on providing maximum benefits to our expanding customer base.

The management team of Iona has much bigger plans than simply servicing our local market and already has embarked on the new mobile range of products that have maximum global appeal for the waste recycling industry.

It is my personal goal to try and develop Iona to become one of the major suppliers of effective solutions to the global waste industry. To this end we are engaging in partnerships with established European companies who specialise in screening and processing of difficult waste products using air separation and screening technology, allowing the customer to reclaim as many products as opposed to going to landfill enabling them to maximise the return on their investment of Iona products. If we can help you with the understanding of current legislation or technical recovery of any waste products you might have, then please contact us directly for this advice.

Thanks again to those customers who have initially supported us since our start up a few months ago and to all those whom we hope to help in the future.

Iona recently manufactured and installed a waste management plant for Brampton Skip Hire in Cumbria.

Brampton, who provides a complete waste management and collection service to Commercial and Domestic producers, required a high throughput of varied waste streams which would produce quality products which fit WRAP protocols and high value recyclables.

Iona Waste Systems alongside WPS Ltd, based in Stafford, designed a bespoke state of the art waste recycling plant which delivered and met all of Brampton’s requirements.

There was also a complex range of circumstances to facilitate within the project design. For example issues such as the existing building dimensions and traffic management. However, IONA and WPS worked closely with the customer to find the best possible solutions to their needs resulting in the final product.

“State of the Art Waste Recycling Plant that Delivers Results”

“WPS and Iona continue to provide a wealth of technical support and an excellent backup service, giving us the confidence to begin negotiations for a large co-mingled plant using state of the art technology.”

Rick Allen, Managing Director of Brampton Skip Hire

Iona is continually focusing on providing high quality equipment to enable customers to improve their waste management schemes across the UK and Ireland.

Firstly I am delighted to be part of the IONA management team. I previously worked for EXTEC Screens and Crushers Ltd, where I was actively involved in the research and development of the range of crushing and screening products, as well as responsibility for the day to day management of the Omagh plant.

At IONA we are continually focused on the redesign and value engineering of our current range of static equipment and I am supported by my current design team, comprising of Stephen Norton and Johnston Patterson. The design team is focused on developing new innovative equipment using the latest 3D Solid Works software.

Product Development

A recent project undertaken by Iona for Dublin based company included a pre sort sorting station before the primary trommel screen. Previous to this improvement Pacon’s, director Pat Garvey identified the need for an upgrade to improve production rates and to adhere to Health and Safety requirements. Pat Garvey stated, “Iona’s sorting station has not only improved production rates by 15% but has also decreased labour costs.” Pacon are heavily focused on providing an “Innovative Solution to Waste” and are confident that with Iona’s products they will reach their targets. Iona can design, manufacture and install a range of products unique to the customer’s specification which will modernise the user’s plant. A unique ultimate static arrangement can

This software ensures complete compatibility with all parts in the models designed which enables us to be very precise within complex scenarios of the design and build process.

Our computer system allows us to be fully interactive with all cutting and fabrication on the factory floor. Solid works enables complete monitoring from design through to on-site installation which has proven to eliminate technical problems and ensures a quality finished product.

Product TrainingBeing technical director of Iona brings many challenges from expanding our Dealer network globally, to technical and application training. I believe that Iona has the pedigree in the market place, in both the recycling industry and manufacturing to provide our customer base with necessary tools to increase their market share. We pride ourselves in having a good understanding of the

customer’s wants through extensive consultation to identify their needs.

We are delighted to introduce WPS as our new dealer for England and Wales. WPS are a branch of the Finlay Group who have years of experience and a wealth of knowledge in materials processing,

therefore Iona’s obvious preference considering this experience.

Recently WPS members travelled to our Factory for a training day on materials and applications on our new mobile Airtrac machine. This was in conjunction with our partners Westeria and Hein Lehmann.

Training was carried out in anticipation of the forthcoming launch of the Airtrac and this will be followed up by a Customer Open Day in July.

Keep an eye out for the date of our upcoming Open Day on our website at www.ionawaste.com.
