Neoenergia – a leader in the market of “energy rental/hire“ in Portugal. The company is using ComAp gen-set controllers and we asked the owner of the company to describe his experiences.

“Regarding our work, indeed we have been doing some very interesting applications with ComAp controllers, specially the last one with IG-NT controllers. The application involved paralleling two different gen-sets that already existed, working in Island.

This job was done in the biggest and most important Data Center of OPTIMUS (a large telecom-munications company) where the power supply is vital. There are emergency gen-sets that start at the same time when mains failure occurs, they synchronize and parallel between themselves and provide power supply to a 1000 KVA UPS system, as well as the rest power of the facilities.

The original and technical curiosity is the fact that one gen-set is a SDMO 1000 KVA with MTU engine (with MDEC ECU) and Leroy Somer alternator and the other is a F.G.WILSON 800 KVA with 3012 Perkins engine and Stamford alternator (2 different engines and 2 different alternators). We accepted this challenge and we have succeeded with fantastic results.

We have retired the installed controllers and we used the new IG-NT controllers, which significantly improved the capabilities of the system. Regarding the parallel application, we only use ComAp controllers for many reasons – the most advanced technology, the fantastic policy of ComAp in providing the software upgrades via Internet without costs, the constant evolution of software and the easy way of use. This special modern way of working (open and wide information) gives ComAp the leadership in their business.”

The new InteliVision 8 screen features many significant improvements such as the large high-resolution colour TFT display, which helps visibility and definition for onscreen information. The control interface has also been updated with user-friendly intuitive active buttons – giving users access to more information in less time. InteliVision 8 also features our unique TRENDS monitoring as a standard feature, helping you evaluate past events easily on one screen.

The InteliVision 8 cut-out size is the same as the IS-Display (InteliSysNT), so InteliVision 8 can be easily used as a replacement for (or an alternative to) IS-Display. Regardless of the size it can be also used as a replacement for (or an alternative to) IG-Display LT GC or I-RD-CAN.

InteliVision 8 includes ComAp’s standard communication interface using RS232/485 and CAN bus communication. Czech Republic Photovoltaic cellsThe monocrystalline panel was installed on the south side of the roof at an angle of 30° by HiTechSolar in 2007.

The installation includes 22 individual panels each measuring 1680 × 990 × 50 mm combined with a Solar Max 4200 C current inverter and ComAp’s NPU* mains protection unit. The type of module is SOLARWATT 220 Wp and delivers an output power of 5 kWp.

“We have been using ComAp universal mains decoupling relay NPU-FU* and NPU-FUV* for over 10 years – installing over 1500 units during this time on both new projects and upgrading older installations.

Typically, our applications involve the NPU* unit being installed into switchboards of cogeneration units operating in parallel with the public distribution network. They accurately measure and evaluate mains parameters including under voltage, over voltage, under frequency, over frequency, voltage asymmetry, vector shift and phase sequence. Based on our experience over many years, we regard NPU* as our preferred choice for mains protection.”

1 MW set installed in Taranaki Hospital by PowerGen of New Zealand, operates in parallel with the mains for bumpless return and also for peak lopping.

The JCPM Trade Center in Recife is one of the most modern business building, with the best technical specifications. The building is equipped with 3 Cummins gen-sets 450KVA, working in parallel. The system is protected by InteliProtec. The application works with 3 IG-CU with their respective extension modules IM-CU and IP-E. DCDN (Northeast Cummins Distributor) and Servintel International (ComAp distributor in Brazil) have developed the project and the switchboard to operate the gen-sets.
