Design

Rib Stop Expanded MetalFormwork is specificallydesigned for concreteconstruction. It is producedfrom hot dipped zinc coatedsteel and features 21mm deepribs running lengthwise acrossthe sheet. It can be used forconstruction joints and stopends.

The construction of the sheet is also designed toproduce a mechanical key and a strong bond across the joint.

Description

Ultraform formwork is specificallydesigned to withstand multiple re-use.

• Its formwork skin is coated with anisophthalic gel coat which gives it ahigh resistance to abrasion.

• It is available with 1 or 2 shells forcircular sections and with 2 shellsfor square or rectangular sections.

• Its light weight design allows rapidinstallation in most cases.

• Our formwork is supplied in thedesired height to the nearestcentimeter.

• It can be superposed; the requestmust be made when placing theorder, as the formwork structure isdesigned according to the workrequired for the total height of theformwork. In addition, the drilling ofthe connecting flanges for perfectadjustment of the 2 formworkelements in relation to each other iscarried out in the factory.

• Our formwork is provided withthreaded inserts designed to accommodatethe PROPS. Lifting handles are provided toenable handling or transport with a cranefor large sections or lengths.

RapidobatInstallation

1. Securing Base: The base of the tube can be restrained byusing a simple square timber arrangement fixed to theground or decking as required.

2. Securing Top: The top of the tube can be restrained witha similar frame as the base, off of which traditional propscan be used to plumb and restrain the tube vertically.

Note: Always erect tubes with the arrows pointing upwards,which ensures correct operation of the tear-off strip.

Storage

Rapidobat tubes are very strong, but remember theyare made from paper!

The tubes must be protected from excessive moisturebefore and during use. If space permits, the tubesshould ideally be stored vertically and suspended aboveground (eg. on pallets) to permit airflow. A good sizedtarpaulin which totally covers the Rapidobat tubeswould normally be sufficient short term protection fromweather elements.

Note: It makes good sense to plan Rapidobat deliveriesin close sync with the construction programme.

Cutting

Rapidobat is normally supplied pre-prepared to any requiredcut length. However, if tubes need to be shortened on site,cut only from the bottom of tube using a fine tooth blade(cutting from the bottom of the tube ensures that the functionof the tear-off strip is not necessarily affected). Re-seal theliner to the cut rim with a proprietary formwork tape.

Placing Concrete

Up to 4m high and/or up to 450mm diameter, normal pouringmethods (eg. by skip or bucket) can be used. Over 4m high and/or450mm diameter, place concrete by pump and hose.

Place concrete slowly to eliminate air entrapment between tubeand liner. Only vibrate from inside the tube.

Stripping

Column must be stripped within 48 hours of pour.

1. Pull special tear-off strip down full length of tube.2. Flap open the tube and push off of column.3. Remove inner liner from column and inspect the concrete finish.4. Replace the Rapidobat tube for protection to the newly cast column.

*Always store off theground and under cover

Concrete expands andshrinks with changes inmoisture and temperature.The overall tendancy is toshrink and can causecracking at an early age.Cracks in concrete cannotbe prevented entirely butcan be controlled andminimised by using joint fillers.

MiotheneMiothene

Closed cell polyethylene foam for use as a joint filler, jointformer, non-load transfer filler, grout check, Stop-end, insulantand many other applications. MIOTHENE is compressible yetsemi-rigid, strong and non-absorbent. It is produced invarious densities, the most widely used is StandardMiothene. It is light, clean and easy to use. It can bestuck to all normal building surfaces. MIOTHENE isresistant to most chemicals and oils, is non-stainingand has high weathering and ozone resistance. An added advantage of MIOTHENE is that it can besupplied in long-length rolls up to 1.6 metres wide.

Expansion Joints

MIOTHENE used to form expansion joints in con-crete slabs and brickwork. MIOTHENE remains inthe joint and greatly reduces compressive stresses.

Precast Panels

MIOTHENE makes an ideal bond breaker andback-up sealing strip between concrete panels.

Bridge Decks and Abuments

MIOTHENE used as expansion, joint filler andformer. Continuous in length, inert, non-staining,non-absorbent, with good recovery rates.

Stop-Ends

MIOTHENE takes the place of timber or ply and isextremely simple to remove. MIOTHENE is alsoused extensively as a grout check and in thinnersheets, as a frost protection blanket.

Description

DYNA Quell is a high swelling material used for effectivesealing of joints in concrete construction. It is produced from a combination of Bentonite and Butyl Caoutchouc. This material will expand on contact with water to seal thegaps and pores in a concrete joint. After expanding thematerial retains it’s elasticity so that the seal will not beaffected by any subsequent movement of the structure.

Instructions for Use

Keep dry until use

Ensure that the concrete joint is clean and free from debris

The DYNA Quell should be placed in the centre of the joint

There should be a minimum of 75mm between the DYNA quell and the joint edge

Firmly butt joint the end of each roll to the next

Glue or nail the roll down to eliminate the possibility of movement during the concrete pour. We stronglyrecommend the use of the DYNA Quell fixing grid.
