Problems Facing Africa today

•Governments are unstable

• Population growth – 2.9% population growth per year– At this rate, populations will double every 23 years

• Education– Literacy rate is low– 170 million adults can neither read nor write– 47 million youths are not in school – An uneducated population means that these

countries will not be able to compete in the world economy

• Aids and other diseases– Aids is killing the young men and women who are

the hope of their country
