PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Hi Families of Frankston SDS, Monday March 18 at 6.30pm the Frankston Special Developmental School Council will host its Annual General Meeting. This is a public meeting open to all members of our school community. I invite you to come along and contribute to this meeting. We have a great school council who are always striving to make our school a better place to learn. Thank you to those people, who have already nominated for positions on our school council for this year. School councillors play a key role in government schools like Frankston SDS, supporting our staff to provide the best educational programs for our students. I am most appreciative of the time they commit to our school out of their busy lives. If you are interested in joining the FSDS school council nominations are now open. We have five parent positions that need to be filled. Self-nomination forms are available at the office and must be lodged by 4.00pm, Monday March 11. School council meets Monday evenings for about two hours eight times a year. If you are interested and would like to know more about the role of school councillors please feel free to give me a call. I am excited to inform you that on Wednesday March 20 we will be hosting our annual family fun night at Frankston SDS. This evening will provide the opportunity for families to meet the staff members working with their children this year. They can mix with other families in our school community in an informal friendly atmosphere. There will be exciting activities to engage our students and their siblings and we feel confident students will feel safe and secure in the familiar environment of their school yard. I encourage you to get along; it should be a fun night. Finally I was thrilled to announce the results of the recent school captain elections at our last assembly. Our students take the election process very seriously; they are aware of the great honour it is to be a school captain. To be eligible to be a school captain at Frankston SDS candidates must make a small presentation to their peers outlining the attributes required to be an effective school captain and the personal qualities that they would bring to the table. Congaratulations to the following students: Daniel Magarry, Thomas Dornan (school captains) Patrick Wheeler, Amy Godkin (school vice captains) Max Farrow, Phoebe Hayes–Brown, Josh Marsden Potts and Thivia Shrikanthan (house captains). Our school captains will be presented to the school community in an official ceremony in the school hall tomorrow. I encourage you to come along, it’s sure to be a full house. The beginning of the year is so important for our students. A good start will set up the rest of the year for success. PRINCIPAL’S AWARDS The Principal’s Awards are awarded to students according to Our School

Values. These awards are given out at the fortnightly assemblies through out

the year.

RESPECT OTHERS We work and play together

Camps, Sports and Excursion Funding 2019 CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to

cover the costs of school camps, trips, excursions, incursions and sporting

activities. Ths cannot be used to pay the Essential Education Items charge.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you

may be eligible for CSEF. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses

relating to camps, excusrions/incursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is $125 for primary school students and $225 for

secomndary school students.

New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form.

If you applied for CSEF at Frankston SDS in 2018, you d o not need to complete an

application form in 2019 unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
