5/6School:SuccessStories– SouthBrunswickJoanneKerekes,Asst.SuperintendentForthoseofusfortunateenoughtohavebeenapartoftheUESexperience,youwillhearinSBSDtothisdaythattherewerenobetteryearsthanthose.Ibelieve,hadtherenotbeenapriorcommitmenttothetwo-middleschoolmodel,thattheUESwouldhavecontinuedonandflourished.Whathappenedduringthosefiveyearswasnothingshortofmagical.

Wesawchildhoodextendedandgainedaglimpseintowhoourchildrenwouldbecomeasadults.

• Thecafeterias,hallways,andplaygroundswereunbelievablypeaceful.• Regroupingacrossgradelevelswasmanagedwithease.• Thearts,andperformanceandresearchtasksflourished.• ECA’sfocusedoncollaborativeclubs–OdysseyoftheMind,InventionConvention• AlignmentofcurriculummadePDwithstaffasrichasIhaveeverexperiencedit.Wewereaheadofthecurve.
