PRESIDENT’S CORNER As we move into warmer weather, we also move into our spring and summer activities. On April 18 our Social Committee met and put together a calendar of events which will include deck parties, bike rides, hikes, wine and beer appreciation nights, kayaking, movie nights and more. If you would like to host an event or have ideas, please contact our Social Vice President, Sharon Royer, or for up-to-date information visit our website’s events calendar at skissc.com/events. You can also go to SSC’s Meet-up page (meetup.com/Susquehanna-SkiSnowboard-Club), where you can find out what is going on in your area and post additional activities for others to enjoy. SUMMERTIME IS DECK TIME! It’s Deck Time again! Time for gathering with friends old and new at local decks/patios throughout the SSC area. No reservation or membership needed! Arrive at the selected destination at 5 PM or later, look for folks gathered around tables displaying SSC table tent cards and JOIN IN! This is a great way to meet club members and discover SSC. SSC GOLF OUTING: MAYAPPLE GOLF COURSE ~ Monday, May 21, 9 AM OK membership, we gotta switch up from snow to grass! First social/athletic event of the season… SSC FUN GOLF OUTING! Get the kinks outta yer game, dust off the old mashies, niblicks, baffies and spoons, and come to enjoy friends and an easy (no water or hills) links type golf course and FOOD! Here are the details…. 'HUMP DAY' MOVIE NIGHTS Wednesdays, May 9 & June 6
Relax! Join us for an evening at the movies. Bring a friend! You do not have to be a SSC member to come to this event. Eat/Drink/Socialize! We will meet at Romano's Macaroni Grill, located at 2531 Brindle Drive, in The Shoppes at Susquehanna Marketplace, just off Progress Avenue in Harrisburg, any time after 5 PM for a snack and/or a drink before the movie. The movie! SSC sends an email blast with the chosen movie title a few days before each event. We drive a short distance to the Regal Harrisburg Stadium 14 at 1500 Caughey Drive about 20 minutes before the start of the movie. For more information, contact Lovena Nickle at 717-541-8803.
SSC SUMMER PICNIC Saturday, June 30, 11 AM-4 PM
It’s summertime! Mark your calendars for SSC‘s annual picnic which will be held at a new location this year: Tall Cedars, Cedars Grove, 8143 Old Jonestown Road, Harrisburg. Our Summer Picnic is always a time to enjoy great food and to connect with both old and new friends. The event will be your opportunity to explore SSC’s 2018-2019 proposed calendar of events, offer suggestions of dates and/or junkets and make your reservations for 2019 trips. Meet the trip leaders, ask questions and discover other individuals joining in the excursions. Trip applications for our 2019 winter trips and deposits will be accepted at the picnic after 12 noon. Applications with deposits must either be hand-delivered to the trip leader at the picnic or postmarked June 23 thru June 30, 2018. All applications meeting these criteria will have equivalent eligibility in case a trip is over-subscribed and a lottery is necessary. Memberships must be current on the date of the picnic to be eligible for trip signups (you can join or renew at the picnic registration table). SSC will provide the entree, beverages, condiments and paper/plastic products. To add to the feast, please bring a dish to share according to the first letter of your last name: A thru H – bring a casserole or side dish; I thru N – bring a dessert; and O thru Z – bring an appetizer. If you don’t bring a dish, you will be asked to pay $8 extra per membership at check in. Please make your reservation early to ensure we have time to plan and purchase enough food and beverages for everyone. Early Bird price for SSC members through June 16 is $15/pp for ages 12 & over; $10 for ages 8-11; and free under age 8. Effective June 17, all prices increase by $5/pp. Payment can be made via our website (skissc.com/event-2805215) or mail your check now, before you forget, payable to “SSC” (write "picnic" in the memo) to Picnic Chair Barb Collier, PO Box 603, Hummelstown, PA 17036. If you are paying for multiple attendees, please include their names and ages in case they qualify for free or youth admission. HERSHEY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Hersheypark volunteers earn money for SSC and at the same time earn 1-3 vouchers for themselves for admittance to Hersheypark for each shift worked. This winter SSC donated half of its proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Central PA Food Bank. All you have to do is contact Lovena Nickle at 717-541-8803 or [email protected] to sign up as a Hersheypark volunteer. You will need to provide an email address to enable Lovena to communicate with you about open shifts. Again, you can earn up to THREE vouchers for admittance to the Park for working a 4-5 hour shift.
MEMBERSHIP CARDS Your Club is now able to offer its members self-service access to view and print SSC membership cards via our website (skissc.com). All you need to do is log in using the email address where you receive your email newsletter notices and email blasts. If yours is a Family/Household membership, both membership cards are available in this manner. Each member can log in (if both have provided SSC with separate email addresses), or if only one member has done so, that member has access to view and print both members' membership cards. You'll see your new membership card at the top of your Profile after logging in. Additional Family/Household member cards can be viewed by clicking on the hyperlink for those members' names. As in the past, when your membership renewal process is complete, members providing the Club with an email address will also receive a confirmation email that includes their new membership card. HAVE YOU RENEWED YOUR MEMBERSHIP?
SSC’s new membership year began on April 1, and we urge you to renew your membership today so you don’t miss any of our great events or a chance to sign up for upcoming trips. You have choice in how to renew your SSC membership: 1. You can personally hand in a completed membership application form (see below) and your check for a year’s
membership dues at an upcoming club event, or you can mail your form and dues to the club's PO box. Members who choose this option can expect to receive confirmation of current membership in approximately two to three weeks.
2. You can renew your membership online. Members who choose this option can be sure that SSC has correct contact information for them (it can be challenging to decipher handwritten applications) and will receive immediate confirmation of current membership when dues are paid online. To facilitate the online renewal process, each current SSC membership not previously renewed received a reminder email from the club on April 1. This email included directions for logging on to our website's membership app where you can complete the renewal process. If you have forgotten your password, a link is provided in these emails for obtaining a new temporary password. If any of your contact information (i.e., email address, mailing address, telephone number) has changed, this is the time to update our records. Click on the “Edit Profile” button at the top of your profile page to make changes. When you’re ready to complete the process, click on the “Renew until April 1, 2019” button. This will initiate a membership dues payment loop, where you have the option of paying your dues by mailing in a check, paying with your PayPal account, or paying with a debit or credit card.
