ASHE March 4th LunchPresented by: Bryan A. Kendro, PennDOT
Topic: P3 Update RSVP by February 28, 2014
SNOW, SNOW and more SNOW! Our family has had their fair share of fun in the snow lately. Our kids love to sled!! It was fun to watch two engineers, my husband Robert and Larry Bankert, build our kids a luge run complete with ramps. They had so much fun!! It was so great to see them all laughing and playing in so much snow. We also were able to get some family ski time in over the past month when we visited Eagle Rock Resort located in Hazelton. Lydia had a wonderful time and did a fantastic job skiing on her own. (We have had her skiing since age 2). It was Kellan’s first time out and I found out that the terrible two’s and skiing just doesn’t go together. It was a very short day for him!
Since we were getting a major snow storm on February 3rd, our dinner meeting was canceled. We have rescheduled Mr. Dave Hoglund, PE from Rettew Associates to present on the Reconstruction of the Siegrist Covered Bridge on June 2nd at the Radisson. Look for additional information in the profile.
National Engineers week was celebrated February 16th-22nd. ASHE Harrisburg displayed our booth in support of the celebration at the Colonial Park Mall. The 2014 National Engineers week celebration Banquet was held on February 20th at the West Shore Country Club. Congratulations to our member, Todd Trautz, PE for receiving the Young Engineer of the Year Award and to all the 2014 Award Winners!
Our next lunch meeting will be held on March 4th at the Radisson. Bryan Kendro, Director - Office of Policy & Public Private Partnerships, PA Department of Transportation will be presenting a P3 update. I look forward to seeing you there!
Another exciting event we have coming up is the ASHE/PennDOT Conference on April 4th at the Best Western Conference Center. This year marks our 10th Anniversary of the conference and we are so happy to be able to continue this conference. Please check your email and the profile for additional information on registering for this conference.
Our Spring Trash Clean-Up will be held on April 10th at 3:00 PM. We will meet at the Comfort Inn River Front (along Front Street, Harrisburg). This is a great chance to proudly support ASHE and our Community in helping to keep our highways beautiful. A happy hour will follow the clean-up at Doc Side Willies. Please plan to attend this clean-up, we could use all the help we can get out there. The more people we get to help the sooner happy hour begins!
Last but not least, I wanted to mention the Past Presidents Dinner. This year’s dinner will be held on May 1st at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this year’s Past President’s dinner. Last year’s event was well attended, food was excellent and the gambling/horse racing was great entertainment. It was a great evening out for most members and their guests! see “President” on Page 4
