What are the 10 worst foods you can eat?

• #10 Fried Catfish

• Catfish is a bottom feeder fish which means it is heavy on toxins. It contains much less of the vital omega 3 fats and nutrients found in better fish choices like salmon or halibut. Not to mention it is covered in white flour and then fried so you get a whole bunch of fat and a whole bunch of calories, without a whole lot of healthy nutrition. Go baked not fried!

What are the 10 worst foods you can eat?

• #7. Fast Food Hamburgers

• For example a Quarter Ponder with cheese at McDonalds without the fries contains 510 calories, 26 grams of fat with 12 grams of saturated fat, 1,190 mg of sodium. This is about ¼ of the daily recommended caloric intake of an average male and over half the recommended amount of sodium, you are getting 1.5 times the amount of fat you need in a day; mostly saturated not to mention excess sugars from simple carbohydrates which will make you tired and sluggish all afternoon. You would have to run an hour and a quarter to burn off these calories alone not including fries and a soft drink.

Serving sizes are out of control!!

• The typical serving size for a piece of meat should be about 4 oz. or the size of a deck of cards. When you go to a restaurant the size is nearly 4x that

• One bagel, which everyone was on the bandwagon with thinking it was a healthy option for breakfast is the equivalent serving size of 5 slices of bread.

• When fast food restaurants first emerged there was only one size available and it is what is available today as the small size. Once the fad of fast food lifestyle caught on the sizes became increasingly bigger…in North America. Proportionately the size of North Americans also increased at an alarming rate. Now obesity is an epidemic in our society. The top three causes of death in North America are Heart Disease, Stroke, Cancer (namely of the bowel and breast tissue for men & women respectively).

Serving sizes are out of control!!

• The original small fry serving is the equivalent of a 200 calorie serving. The super size portion will pack in over 600 calories. Drinks are no different the kids size (the original small as 12oz.) and the super size drink being nearly the equivalent of a 2L bottle of pop or 42 oz. The 7/11 Big gulp holds 600-800 calories and 48 tsp of sugar in a 64oz cup the equivalent of 2L.

Serving sizes are out of control!!

• Keep in mind the average woman needs only 1500 calories to meet her daily needs, and the average male needs about 2500 calories. Also take into account the average North American walks less than 2,500 steps daily which is only about 2.5kms. That is their entire day’s activity. Left unabated obesity will overtake smoking as the number one preventable cause of death.
