Five Tips For A Successful Remodel
1. Sufficient Pre-Planning2. Choosing the Right Team3. The Right Paperwork4. Setting Construction
Expectations5. Getting “Peace of Mind”
It’s fun to think about something NEW! But what is my project?
Sufficient Pre-Planning
Sufficient Pre-PlanningDo I want to add
additional floors or rooms?
Sufficient Pre-Planning
Financial Considerations Are Key When Planning For Your Remodel. What is my intended investment range for the project itself? Are additional meal costs likely (i.e. with a kitchen remodel)? Will I need to rent a hotel room or incur furniture storage costs? Have I included taxes and possible furniture needs for my new ttttspace?
Sufficient Pre-Planning
Do I want to stay during construction or do I have
an option to live elsewhere?
Sufficient Pre-PlanningWe’d love to tell you that the remodeling process will be all sunshine and roses, but
we’d be lying if we did. There are times during the construction process where progress is not as evident and you need faith that the results will be worth it.

Choosing The Right Team
Choosing the right construction team for your project is important. Do they understand your vision? Do they have a design resource available to help you? Do you know who will be in your home? Are they licensed and bonded for all activities they’ll do? Have you received a referral or checked references? Do they warranty their work? Do you trust them? What is your gut instinct?
The Paperwork
Paperwork to Look For:1. Drawings
2. Scope of Work
3. Selection Lists
4. The Contract 5. Warranty Information
The Paperwork

The PaperworkDrawings should look professional
and contain dimensions.

Setting Construction Expectations
Prior to construction beginning, your contractor should:1. Meet with you2. Review documents3. Review selections
with samples4. Identify who is the
primary communicator for the project
5. Agree to a communication format
Setting Construction Expectations
Should a change arise during a project, it should come in writing and be
accompanied by the associated costs, timeline and overall project effect.
Setting Construction Expectations
Remember this chart? Emotions go up and down during the project. Certain parts of the construction process are more gratifying than others.
