Canteen This week Karen Steenbergen will be running the canteen. Karen will be making chicken ceasar salad with a flavoured milk drink. Thank you Karen! We still have the 12 th Dec free if anyone is available to run the canteen on any of those dates. Please note, lunch on 28 th Nov and 5 th Dec will be at 1.25pm due to Swimming Scheme. Change of Bus Pick Up and Drop Off 5 th & 6 th Dec Parents are reminded that, due to preparations for the Young Cherry Festival, the Anderson Park precinct will not be available for our school bus on Thursday, 5 th December and Friday, 6 th December. Mr and Mrs Muller have advised that the school bus will collect and return students to the area between 40 Winks and Landmark (Lovell Street) for both morning pick up and afternoon drop off on both Thursday and Friday of NEXT WEEK. The normal bus route will resume on Monday, 9th December. Should you need clarification, please phone the school. Swimming Scheme 2019 This year’s school swimming scheme for students in Years 2 – 6 commenced today, and will continue for the next fortnight, until Friday, 6 th December. Please note – There will be no swimming lessons for students in Kindergarten and Year 1 this year due to the ongoing pool renovations. Transport to and from the pool will be by bus each day. Please note the cost of swimming scheme is actually less than we anticipated. This year the price has been set at $52 per student for the 10 day program. Payments can be made to the office or via the Payment facility on the school website. *Please note – Parents paying upfront for Swimming Scheme, if your child is absent on a day during swimming scheme they are eligible for a refund of the pool entry component only ($2.70) but not the cost of the bus. Swimming for Kindergarten & Year 1 Students On Friday 29 th November the students will be going to the pool for a swim after tennis at the Young Tennis Club. Students will need to bring to school: swimmers, towel, rash top, thongs and a bag for wet clothes. The cost of this activity is $5.20. (This covers the cost of the bus $2.50 plus entry into the Young Aquatic Centre $2.70). New Front Fence Last Tuesday we said goodbye to our old front fence. We are excited to say we now have a beautiful new pool style black powder coated fence. The fence has been provided by the Department of Education as part of their planned maintenance of school infrastructure.

Kindergarten 2020 Orientation Program

Our Kindergarten Orientation Program has now concluded. Last Tuesday Mrs Carroll awarded the boys their Kindergarten Orientation Certificates. We look forward to both Thomas and Clancy commencing Kindergarten at Maimuru Public School in 2020.

Young District Anglers Association On Friday Gary and Rus of the Young District Anglers Association presented the students with fishing rods as part of their annual fundraising donation to the local community. The students were extremely excited to receive the rods. The Young District Anglers are holding a Family Day in February 2020 at Chinaman’s Dam, BBQ, talks, fishing lessons will all be on offer. More information and the date will be sent home when it becomes available. Thank you very much Gary, Rus and Brenda!!!

Private Music Lessons 2020 We are very fortunate to have Mark Corkery from the Young Regional School of Music (YRSM) teach music lessons each week. In addition, Mark can provide individual music lessons across a variety of instruments including drums, guitar and keyboard. Parents and families are reminded that they will need to contact YRSM to enroll and make payment for their child to undertake these lessons. The YRSM can be contacted on 6382 5735 or by email at [email protected] .

Presentation Night This year our Presentation Night will be held on Thursday evening, 5th December (Week 8). Please pop this date on your calendar at home!

Year 6 Farewell Our final assembly for 2019 and the Year 6 Farewell will be held on Monday the 9th December (Week 9). Please mark this date in your calendar at home.

Term 4 Tennis Program Our Term 4 tennis program with local tennis coach, Mr Col Maher will continue this Friday. This will be the final lesson for 2019. This lesson will be at the Young Tennis Courts, students will be transported by bus and go straight to the pool for Swimming Scheme after tennis on this day. Students are to wear their sports uniform on Friday 28th November and bring their swimmers and towel to school. Cost: Five lessons at $5 per child per lesson totalling $25 per child for this activity. The cost is being subsidised by the school. Thank you to all the families who have already paid. Receipts will be sent home on Monday 2nd December. If you still owe money for tennis lessons please pay ASAP or contact the office if you are unsure and Ms O’Rourke can let you know of any outstanding amounts. Students who attended Broken Bay will not miss out on any lessons as the lesson that was scheduled for the 8th November is being held this week on Friday the 29th November instead.

Birthday Time! Last week we celebrated Mrs Carroll’s birthday. We hope you enjoyed your special day Mrs Carroll!!

Library Borrowing - Finished for 2019 Last Monday was the last day students could borrow books from the library. All library books are now due back. Please return all library books to the school before the end of the term.

Homework Homework is an integral part of student learning. It serves to consolidate what has been learned in class. Infants Homework: Catch up / complete any missed units in the Mentals book.
