Please perform the following steps in the order specified forbest results. Note: PowerPoint 2013 users, there’s an extra steprequired (see next page).

1. Open a copy of the new template.

2. From the File tab, choose Save As.

3. At the bottom of the Save As dialog box, click the Save astype drop-down arrow and select PowerPoint Template (*.potx).

Important: The file path should automatically change to the MicrosoftTemplates folder on your computer. If it does not, change the file type

to something else. Then change the file type back to a PowerPointtemplate (*.potx) and it should refresh to the correct template folderpath on your computer.

4. In the File name box, type the word “blank” and click Save.

Note: If you have an existing template called “blank” saved in yourtemplate folder, replace it with the new template.

Tip: Naming your template blank.potx makdefault template that will be applied automnew presentations.

5. Place your cursor inside the field next to Delocation, right-click and choose Paste (be su

6. Replace the word in the path from “PowerPclick OK.

7. Follow the same instructions outlined on pasaving the template as your default.

If you’re using PowerPoint 2013, you must perform thefollowing steps before saving the template as your default,as described on the previous page.


2. From the File tab, choose Options to access the PowerPoint Optionsdialog box.

3. Click Save (on left navigation bar).

4. Under Save Presentations, click inside the field next to AutoRecoverfile location and scroll over (highlight) all text to select the entire path,then right-click and choose Copy.

There are several ways to convert an old presentation tothe new Oracle template. The method we recommend

(because it is simple and avoids a PowerPoint bug) isoutlined below.

1. Open an existing presentation.

2. In Slide Sorter View, select (Ctrl+A) and copy (Ctrl+C)all slides.

3. Open a copy of the new Oracle template.

4. In Slide Sorter View, click paste (Ctrl+V).

5. A Paste Options clipboard icon will appear. Hoveryour mouse over the icon and select Use DestinationTheme (default).

Next, you will need to reset the slide layout of each slide(during conversion, some elements including text and

graphics will need to be adjusted).

1. While in Slide Sorter view, select the slides that require alayout applied.

2. From the Home tab, Slides group, click Layout to access theslide gallery.

3. Select an appropriate slide layout.

4. When applying a slide layout to a slide on which a text box

was used (and not a text placeholder), do the following:a. Cut the text out of the text box and paste it into the text

placeholder provided by the slide layout.

b. Delete the original text box.

c. Click Reset within the Slides group.

In the new template the vertical size

Recommended Opening and Closing Sequence

• The opening slide is reserved for the Oracle logo.

• The design composition of the standard title slide should never be altered. When copresenting, aslide is available.

Information Protection Policy ClassificationUpdating Footer Text

• An information protection policy notice is built into the mastertemplate in the footer placeholder. For all presentationscreated for internal use, this notice must be updated with thecorrect confidential information classification, which should notbe altered.

• Note: Presentations created for public consumption do notneed to carry an information protection policy notice. TheyDO need to include the Oracle copyright notice as includedin this template. Instructions for selecting the appropriateconfidential information classification for your InformationProtection Policy notice or for removing it from your templatefor a public-facing presentation are provided on the next slide.

Delete Sample Data from Premade Chart

Add Your Data to a Premade Chart

Enter data manually directly in the Excel spreadsheet1. Click in the first empty cell (row 1) of the spreadsheet and begin typing.

Copy data from another Excel spreadsheet

1. Open an existing Excel spreadsheet and select the range of cells you

wish to copy.

2. Return to your presentation, click the Edit Data button from the

Data group of the Chart Tools Design tab to activate the associated

spreadsheet.

Note: If no elements appear in the chart, this is because there is nodata in the spreadsheet yet.

From the Data Group (PC Users)Adjust Chart Orientation

After adding data to a sample premade chart, you may

have to adjust the chart’s orientation to more accuratelyreflect your data.

PC Users

1. Double-click the chart to activate the Chart Tools Design tab.

2. Click the Switch Row/Column button. If the Switch Row/Column button is

disabled, click the Select Data button and click the Switch Row/Column button

from within the dialog box provided. Click “OK” (the chart will automatically change

to reflect this).

3. To change back to Series in rows (the default), click Switch Row/Column from the

Data group within the Chart Tools Design tab.

Mac Users

1. Select (click) the chart to activate the Chart tab.

2. Click the Edit button (the Excel spreadsheet will appear but resize this window and

return to PPT).

3. From the Chart tab, click the desired Switch Plot buttons (by row or column).

When you copy and paste tables from Word or Excel, youmay need to apply a PowerPoint table style to match the

sample charts provided in the template.Click to select the table, then:

1. Select the Table Tools Design tab.

2. Click the More arrow in the lower-right corner of the TableStyles gallery to view all the design styles.

3. Click the thumbnail for Light Style 1- Accent 5 to apply toyour chart.

Many layouts in the template use full-frame photos in thebackground. These include the Title Layouts, Section Header,and Metric Layouts and are recognizable by noting that the

photo fills the slide.

1. Right-click the slide area and choose Format Background fromthe pop-up menu.

2. From the Fill menu, click Picture and texture fill.

3. Under Insert from: click File.

4. Locate your new picture and click Insert or Open.

Note: Images used in the background must be sized for theaspect ratio of the presentation or they will be distorted.This cannot be adjusted in PowerPoint.

If your original slides contain text boxes with footer text,you must remove them before converting to the newOracle template.

1. Remove text boxes containing footer text before copying into the new Oracletemplate. Apply footers/slide numbers after copying.

2. Open an existing presentation slide in Normal View.

3. Select the entire text box containing footer text and press the Delete key.

4. Copy and paste slides into the new Oracle template, then apply footers/slidenumbers.

Media Manager provides images in a format optimizedfor use in PowerPoint presentations.

• Log into Media Manager

– If you don’t have an account email [email protected]

• From the gallery of thumbnail images select the photoyou want by putting a check in the check box above theasset name.

• Select the EXPORT tab and then select the Conversions tab.

• Select Add a Conversion and select PNG 13.33” 150dpi wide,

photo use in PPT from the pull down menu.

• Select EXPORT ITEMS to convert the image.

• Once converted, download, FTP or email the resulting file.

Reducing File Size

• Eliminate unnecessary graphics and slides.

• Create basic shapes in PowerPoint, rather than importing .jpg pictures.

• Build charts and tables using PowerPoint’s charting program (preferable to copying and from Excel, which embeds the entire Excel workbook into your presentation, making yosize significantly larger).

• Instead of copying and pasting pictures onto slides, use the Insert tab, Picture comman

• Choose pictures that have been resized for PowerPoint.

Use the Compress Pictures Button

• Double-click a picture to activate the Picture Tools Format tab

and click the Compress Pictures button from the Adjust group.

• Click the Options button and under the Target Output section(PPT 2007 and 2010) or Picture Quality drop-down menu (PPT2011 for Mac), select the E-mail option to reduce theresolution to 96 pixels per inch (ppi), click OK.

How to Print Slides in Grayscale Mode

• Conserve printer ink by printing in grayscale mode.

• To view how your slides will print in grayscale mode*

1. From the View tab, in the Color/Grayscale group, click Grayscale.

2. Your slides will display without color. Check each slide to ensurethat all objects are displaying at high contrast (black or gray onwhite background).

3. You can make adjustments for printing purposes. (Note: makingchanges in grayscale does not affect the color on your slides.)

4. Select Back to Color View when finished.
