Background of the project
2005 The first contact between our organization and the Cruyff Foundation. 2009 A partnership between the Sports Secretary of the City of São Paulo, the Dutch Consulate, Plataforma Brasil Holanda and Instituto Plataforma Brasil was created. 2010, April A visit of the Cruyff Foundation delegates. 2010, November Opening of the first Cruyff Court of the Americas.
Background of the neighborhood
Ermelino Matarazzo is a densely populated neighborhood with about 250.000 inhabitants of which 45.000 live in slums (favelas). Close to the Cruyff Court the stadium that will host the opening and semi-final of the World Cup 2014 is being constructed.
Start of the project
2010 Nov. - The CC-coaches followed the KNVB World Coaches course 2011 Jan. - The Super Férias project was started Feb. - The Clube Escola program was started June - The CC-coaches attended the second KNVB World Coaches Course for São Paulo’s coaches. In the project
- An average of 300 children participate each month by KNVB World Coaches Methodology.
- About a 1.000 different children and adolescents participated in the first year.
- About 300 adults playing soccer at the court in the evenings and weekend.
- Indirect audience, such as family members, are estimated at around 1200 persons.
- In total about 2.500 people make use of Cruyff Court.
