Pharmacy:
is the health profession that links the health
sciences with the chemical sciences, and it is
charged with ensuring the safe and effective
use of medication.
Microbiologyis the study of microorganisms.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology is concerned with biological agents that:
1. Cause human disease e.g. Antibiotic susceptibility tests
2. Spoil prepared medicine A. Minimize the access of microorganisms to the product. B. Formulate the final product to be hostile to microorganisms normally by the
addition of preservatives (Methyl Paraben)
3. Produce compounds of medical interest e.g. Biosynthetic Insulin produced by bacteria or yeast
