Premiership – Rockingham Sharks v Joondalup Giants - Kick Off 3.30pm After a nail-biting loss last week, the Sharks will be looking to things the hard way and qualify for the grand final this weekend. The Rockingham side, led by workhorse Reece Potter, will remind themselves of the meetings so far with the Giants, and take some confidence after beating them twice this season in the three previous games, and a 26-all draw too. Caleb Reedy will look to lift once again, coming up against his former side. The Sharks have been consistent all season, and were deservedly crowned Minor Premiers. With Young Halfback Tyler Hunt finding his feet in First Grade, he is slowly learning to control the tempo of the game, and assert his dominance when needed. Coach Darren Shaw will be wanting to stick strong with his team selections and reward the players that have got them into this position. A couple of injuries may unsettle the Sharks, but they will enter the game as favourites. On the other side, the Giants will take their siege mentality into this one, after beating Fremantle and South Perth in the previous two games. The Giants will be very happy to take the underdog tag, and will look to their monstrous forwards to get them over the line this weekend. Also with a young halfback, the Giants will look to Christian Smith to utilise his short kicking game, and direct his forwards around. Boasting players such as Logan Houghton and Lesi Fai, Coach Darren Smith will want to dominate the middle third this week, and hope that his Hooker Craig Richardson will take advantage and show everyone why he earned the nickname ‘Lightning’. In what is the biggest game for the club for close to 10 years, the Giants faithful will be out in numbers, and will be hoping their team can get over the line and qualify for the big dance.
Reserve Grade – Willagee Bears v North Beach Sea Eagles - Kick Off 2.00pm The Willagee Bears have been the form side in the Reserve Grade Competition this season, but had a little slip last weekend in their 24-14 loss to the Sharks. Having already met the North Beach Sea Eagles 4 times this season, the score is 2-all, with the Bears winning the first 2 meetings, and North Beach winning on the following two occasions. The Bears will look to the experience of Ryan Mills, who will reminisce of playing Finals Football for the Bears in first grade not so long ago. The Beach boys will be full of confidence, having thumped the South Perth Lions in week 1 on the finals. Cairo Takarangi and Kani Soloman were dominant, and gave the North Beach team the finishing touches they needed. This game will be a cracker, with less than 6 points splitting these two sides in three of the earlier battles they have had this season.
