PREDICATES• The predicate of a sentence

tells about the subject (what happened to it) of a sentence; or it tells what the subject is/was, has/had, does/did.

• The predicate is usually found at the end of the sentence.

• The predicate begins with the first verb (helping, linking, or action) in the sentence.

• The complete predicate includes ALL of the words that tell what happened in the sentence.

• The complete predicate starts with the verb (predicate) and continues until the end of the sentence.

SIMPLEPREDICATES• The simple predicate

includes the single verb (or helping verb and main verb) that tells what happened in the sentence.

• The simple predicate can ALWAYS be found at the beginning of the complete predicate.
