PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL Solemnity of Epiphany January 5/6, 2008 Celebrant: My dear friends, the love of God reaches to the ends of the earth. As the three kings were led to the Savior, let us approach the Lord and humbly bring our prayers to him: Cantor: Lord, hear our prayer. All: Lord, hear our prayer. 1. For all who lead the Church, that they will continue with faith and confidence to bring the message of the Gospel to all they meet, we pray to the Lord. 2. For leaders of countries, that they will always respect the dignity and worth of each life, we pray to the Lord. 3. For Christians throughout the world, that they will bring the light of Christ to their families and friends, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all who have died, (pause) especially our family members, parishioners, and friends, that they will know the happiness of eternal peace, we pray to the Lord. Celebrant: O God of hope and joy, listen to the prayers of your people who have gathered to celebrate your mighty love. We make all our prayers in the name of Mary’s Son, Jesus, who is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

Celebrant: My dear friends, the Lord has filled us with his Spirit as we celebrate the arrival of our Messiah. As his children, let us bring our prayers before him: Cantor: Lord, hear our prayer. All: Lord, hear our prayer. 1. For leaders of the Church, that they will always strive to preach a

message of peace, we pray to the Lord. 2. For Christians throughout the world that they will recognize their

gift of baptism and bring the light of Christ to their families and friends, we pray to the Lord.

3. For the people in our neighborhood, that this Cathedral will be a

sign of God’s loving presence in their lives, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all who have died, (pause) especially our family members,

parishioners, and friends, that they will know the happiness of eternal rest, we pray to the Lord.

Celebrant: Father in heaven, you sent your beloved Son, Jesus, to be our Savior. Send us out into the world to proclaim your Gospel message of peace and joy. We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.

barriers between peoples of all races and nations, we pray to the Lord.

2. That the Holy Spirit will enlighten us to spread the Gospel message,

we pray to the Lord. 3. For Christians throughout the world, that they will bring the light

of Christ to their families, friends, and neighbors, we pray to the Lord.

4. For all who have died, (pause) especially our family members,

parishioners, and friends, that they will know the happiness of eternal peace, we pray to the Lord.

Celebrant: O God of endless mercy, hear the prayers of your people and bring unity to all who gather in your name. We make our prayer in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

hear the cries of the poor and preach the message of the Gospel with strength and conviction, we pray to the Lord.

2. That working together, all government leaders will bring an end to

famine and suffering throughout our world, we pray to the Lord. 3. For an increase of religious vocations to the priesthood and

consecrated life, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all who have died, (pause) especially our family members,

parishioners, and friends, that they will know the happiness of eternal peace, we pray to the Lord.

of renewal and conversion, we pray to the Lord. 2. For nations of the worked, that they will work together for the

peace and true justice for all, we pray to the Lord. 3. For the sick and suffering, that they may be comforted in the mercy

of Christ, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all who have died, (pause) that they may rest eternally with the

zeal for service and commitment to the Church, we pray to the Lord.

parishioners, and our friends, that they will rest in the peace of God, we pray to the Lord.

and profession of faith, that they will continue to follow in the footsteps of Christ, we pray to the Lord.

4. For all who have died, that they will know the glory of the

Benedict and all bishops, that they may boldly proclaim the Word of God and bring many to the light of faith, we pray to the Lord.

2. Look kindly upon all who preach the Word of God, that they may

be strong in their conviction to follow Jesus, we pray to the Lord. 3. Look kindly upon your Church, that many will be inspired to serve

you as priests and consecrated people, we pray to the Lord.

4. Look kindly upon all who suffer because of sickness and old age, that they will be comforted by the passion and resurrection of Jesus, we pray to the Lord.

love of the Father, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all who have died, especially our family, friends, and

parishioners, that they will see the eternal light of Christ, we pray to the Lord.

2. That Catholics everywhere will grow in their love for Christ made

present in the Eucharist, we pray to the Lord. 3. That we will remember with love and respect all who died in the

service of our country, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all the intentions we hold in our hearts (pause), we pray to the

Lord. Celebrant: O loving God, you feed and nourish your people with the gift of finest wheat and the cup of salvation. Hear the prayers of all gathered around your sacred altar for we make them in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.

God, we pray to the Lord. 3. For all children, that they will be nurtured and loved by family and

friends, we pray to the Lord. 4. For all our parishioners, family members, and friends who are sick,

(pause) and for all who have died (pause), we pray to the Lord. Celebrant: God of grace and love, we bring our petitions to you mindful of your care and mercy. Hear and grant our prayers which we ask through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
