welcome each and every

one of you, and thank

you for coming today to

witness the marriage of

Miranda and Jye

It is a privilege to share

such a happy occasion.

We are here, not only to

witness the vows and promises Jye and Miranda are

about to exchange, but also to wish them both the

very best life has to offer, in their future together as

husband and wife.

My name is Tracey Victor, and I am authorised by law

to solemnise marriages in Australia according to law.

Before you, Jye and Miranda will be joined together in

marriage in my presence and in the presence of your

family and friends and witnesses; I am bound to

remind you publicly of the solemn and binding nature

of the relationship into which you are now about to

enter. Marriage in Australia is the union of a man and

a woman, to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily

entered into for life.

When I met with Miranda and Jye I asked them both

four important questions; this gives me an

understanding of who they are and how and why we

are all standing here today.

From those short questions I saw that in finding each

other, these two have found their other half, the

clique soul mate, their best friend, the ones who’s

touch they do not want to leave; the one person in the

world that makes magic happen for them. And most

of all, they have in each other a deep, respectful and

reciprocated love. That, family and friends, is what we

are here to celebrate today.

We come together, not to mark the start of your

relationship, but to recognize the bond that already

exists between these two.

Throughout history, what people have found that is

essential for a strong and long-‐lasting relationship, is

that it be founded on what we call “love”.

I think it’s important that we consider this today

because, after all, if you did not love one another,

none of us would be here today.

You would not be about to say your vows in a few

minutes if you did not love one another.

You would not be about to sign your names on a piece

of paper and recording that you choose to officially

become husband and wife, if you did not love one

another.

So, as important as this ceremony is, it’s important

that we recognize that the foundation of your

marriage was formed long before we ever came here

today, and that is the love that you share.

But we hear all kinds of definitions of what ’love’ is,

on TV, on the Internet, in books and newspapers...

So for the definition of what I’m talking about today,

I’d like to read this:

Love is a friendship that has caught fire.

It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing

and forgiving.

It is loyalty through good and bad.

It settles for less than perfection and makes

allowances for human weakness.

Love is content with the present.

It hopes for the future and it doesn’t brood over the

past.

It is the day-‐in and day-‐out chronicle of irritations,

problems, compromises, small disappointments, big

victories and working toward common goals.

If you have love in your life it can make up for a great

many things you lack.

If you do not have love in your life, no matter what

else there is, it is not enough.

So search for love. Share it.

But most of all... ENJOY IT.

Now, Jye and Miranda, you’ve gathered your friends

and family together to celebrate this special day with

you.

There’s no doubt that you will be receiving some

advice today. But I believe I speak for every witness

here when I say:

Let your love be stronger than your anger.

Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to

bend than to break.

Look for the best in your beloved rather than the

worst. Confide in your partner and ask for help when

you need it.

Remember that true friendship is the basis for any

lasting relationship.

Give each other the same courtesies and kindnesses

you bestow on your friends.

And remember to Say “I love you” every day.

I will ask you now to share your vows with each other

and to seal these by the giving and receiving of rings.

and create a union greater than the sum of its parts.

It is difficult to express in words the profound

relationship that is love.

These rings have long been a symbol of the sincerity

and permanence of a couple's love for one another

and regard for their marriage.

As the circle can begin anew at any point, so a good

marriage can pick any point to renew itself.

These rings are symbols of your eternal love.

And so here you are today, to say your marriage vows

to one another. Jye, please go first.

Jye Ross Taylor, take you, Miranda Jaye Dempsey

to be my lawfully wedded wife. My partner in life

and my one true love.

Miranda you are my everything, my world.

an amazing person and even more amazing

mother. I love that I can be myself around you and

that we are not only lovers but we are best of

friends as well.

I also love that we can joke and laugh together,

That I trust and respect you.

Most of all I love that you have given me the

greatest gift anyone could ask for;

a life partner and a family.

With this ring I promise to you Miranda, to be

faithful to you alone for as long as I shall live.

I promise to encourage and inspire you, to

comfort you in time of sorrow and in struggle.

how lucky I am to have found you.

You’re such an amazing father to our two

beautiful children who absolutely adore you, as

do I.

You are the rock of our beautiful little family, the

one I can always trust to be there.

For that, I promise this to you.

love you just as much as I do right in this moment.

I promise to hold you and comfort you, to always

be faithful and cherish this love we share.

at you, to always remind you to read the

instructions and never let you forget that you

crashed your car into a boat on our first date.

Sand ceremony

Before you met,

your lives were on

separate roads ...

each going in

different directions

and seemingly

leading to different

destinations.

But somewhere

along the way you

met, fell in love, had

your beautiful children and began building a life

together.

Today you have both chosen to stand together at the

entrance of a new path that affirms your commitment

to journey together as one family.

Before each of you there is a container of sand.

Each container represents the separate journeys you

once were on.

They also represent your own sets of friends and

families that once were apart.

In a moment I will ask that you both blend your

individual containers of sand together ...

representing the coming together of your friends and

family, through your marriage, into one.

And as the sand is blended into one container,

your once solitary journeys will now be one of

companionship, as you walk a single path together

into your future.

As the sand has blended together, your lives are now

joined; your separate journeys through life are now

one. Your friends and family are as one as well,

the future -‐ whether it be large and elegant or small

In every part of life, there are challenges.

Marriage is no different.

It is sometimes easiest to hurt or be hurt by the ones

we love the most.

It might be difficult at times to find the words to say

what you really mean.

If this should happen, simply look to this vase for it

says with its memories what matters most of all.

It will bring you back to this very moment in time

when you first filled it together, and you will

remember the love.

It will say the words you perhaps cannot -‐ such as “I

am sorry”, “I forgive you”, “I love you.”
