For the safety of the students and
staff in the building, all visitors,
including parents and volunteers, are
required to enter through the office and sign in. To be
buzzed into the office you will need
to push the buzzer located on the wall to the right of the office door
corridor. Please do not knock on the main doors to get students attention.
We teach the students not to let
anyone in.

Parents of incoming kindergarteners are
encouraged to bring registra on paperwork
and residency documenta on to Prairie View
Elementary School on: March 1st between
8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you are unable to
make it on this day, you may bring
registra on materials to the school at another me during regular business hours.
Please visit our Registra on Informa on page to download registra on forms and
view residency verifica on requirements. If you have any ques ons about these
forms or requirements, please contact the main office at (847) 464– 6014. Once
registra on paperwork has been received, staff will enter students into Skyward, our
student management system, and parents will need to complete online registra on
via Skyward beginning March 15th.
We need your help! Thank you to all of our parents who have completed
the Illinois 5Essen als Survey for us. Our response rate is 17%, we are s ll in need of
3% for a valid score from the State. The survey window will remain open un l

Dentist with a Heart
During the month of February, many Illinois dentists from the Fox Valley area are participating in
the Dentist with a Heart Program and will be opening their doors to offer free services. If interested or to get additional information, visit this link.
This is the website for the Aurora Children’s Dental Service who sponsors the event. Be mindful
that services vary by location and some locations do require an appointment.
Please dress your child appropriately to be outside when the weather permits. Snow and moderately cold
weather will not keep the children inside. All children will par cipate in outdoor ac vi es if the outside
temperature with wind chill is 0 ̊or above. Snow pants and boots are required for children to play in the
snow.
It is also important that your child has a pair of gym shoes at school. If for some reason your child forgets
their shows, as they are wearing their winter boots to school, we will make every a empt to have
something warm and dry here.

Fifth Grade Parent Night and Spring Open House :Please mark your calendars for Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 6:00pm-7:30pm for 5th Grade Parent Night and Spring Open House at Prairie Knolls Middle School. Additional information will be shared, closer to the date. The PKMS Staff looks forward to meeting you this April!
Develop your child's intellect through the fun game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and
academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance
motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity.
No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice
time. Both new and returning participants are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced
Chess Scholars coach. There will also be a chess competition with prizes towards the end of the session! Each child will receive
a participation medal and a chess keychain.

Please join us for a screening of “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety”. Through candid interviews, producers tell the stories of students who discuss their anxiety and its impacts on their lives and relationships, as well as how they’ve found solutions and hope. The film also includes a special interview with Michael Phelps, a mental health

A panel discussion with mental health professionals will follow the screening.
