Strategy Performance Growth

Water Treatment Plant Upgrade Design, Construction and Project Management Practical Engineering was contracted by Seqwater to project manage a number of upgrade projects on its Noosa Water Treatment Plant.

This project involved mechanical, structural and process design and construction and included the management of specialist sub-contractors. The upgrade works covered chemical dosing systems, chemical storage facilities, sludge handling facilities and building works to increase the capacity of the plant.

We were successful in providing an end-to-end project solution with no interruption to normal operation, providing cost effective and efficient design solutions.

Port of Brisbane Hardwood Expansion Design and Construction In collaboration with Brimar Electrical Services for the Queensland Commodity Exports, Port of Brisbane Woodchip facility, Practical Engineering provided front-end engineering design through to detailed design of the hardwood expansion of the site.

Our scope included the design of new material handling equipment, design modifications of existing equipment and the overall layout of the facility. Future works will include procurement of critical components and site construction of the design solution.

This project will provide the end client with increased capacity through optimising the sorting, handling and storage of their product ready for export to world markets.

Drilling Rig Inspection Inspection and Certification Practical Engineering has conducted a number of API RP Category 3 and 4 inspections on oil, gas and exploration drilling rigs within Australian, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Our inspections allow operators to continue to operate with minimal interruption and ensure the highest standards of compliance and safety are maintained. Specialising in minimising drilling rig down time, our experienced engineers take a practical approach to inspections.

Providing short notice support to operators and energy companies our inspections ensure a rapid, safe and effective means of continued compliance to Australian and International Standards.

79T Gantry Crane Major Inspection Inspection, Certification and Project Management Engaged by Seqwater, Practical Engineering conducted a major 25-year inspection of the Wivenhoe 79t gantry crane, including structural and mechanical non-destructive testing and inspection providing a comprehensive certification report.

Refurbishment was managed by our project managers, supported by our experienced trades people. This included design and fabrication of new components, refurbishment of mechanical equipment and installation of our Crane-DAS automated data logging system.

The inspection and certification ensured continued compliance to Australian Standards and maximised asset life and inspection interval for the client.

Oil Heating Process Skid Design and Construction Practical Engineering was engaged by a large Australian energy company to design and construct a prototype oil heating process skid. This multi-disciplined project involved, process, mechanical and electrical engineering through concept, detailed design and RPEQ certification.

The skid consis of a self-bunded tank with a vertical oil reservoir, incorporating a circulation pump, heater vessel and associated pipework and instruments, the process skid is self-contained allowing rapid deployment and easy transport.

The process skid provides the operator with the ability to rapidly respond to field operating conditions and protect critical infrastructure from unnecessary downtime.

70T Marine Pile Leader Design and Certification Waterway Constructions contracted Practical Engineering to develop a 70T Multi-Directional Marine Piling Leader through concept, detailed design and drafting.

Engineering consisted of mechanical and structural design, including extensive finite element analysis in order to design the largest marine piling leader within the southern hemisphere.

The design solution provided our client with a competitive market advantage in terms of capability and the piling leader is currently engaged in major infrastructure works on Sydney Harbour.
