Moderation Options

I know what you’re thinking!

“I’d love to present with the Twitter tools, but I’m worried that people might Tweet something inappropriate”

No problem — sign up for a free account at TidyTweet, and you can easily filter out everything that might be a problem, automatically or manually. Then simply enter the custom feed URL in the options tab of the feedback slide.

You can also use this method for internal twitter-like services that offer an ATOM feed — you can choose whether to append the keyword parameter to the URL

PowerPoint Auto Tweet

You can “auto tweet” from presentations using the AutoTweet plugin, available here (Office 2007) or here (Office 2004)

Any text between the tags [twitter] and [/twitter] in your notes pages will automatically be tweeted as your give your presentation.

PowerPoint Twitter VotingInstructions

To vote, make the first character of your tweet an option number, and include a unique voting string somewhere in the text, e.g.

“1 is the option I choose! myvote” OR“@votebytweet 1 myvote” (your followers won’t see the votes by default)

Here’s what the chart looks like with data — try putting in the string “xcelsiustweet” to see some results on the next slides…

PowerPoint Twitter Ticker Bar

Instructions Put the slide into presentation mode to see the ticker bar at the bottom of the screen. If the

bar does not appear, see troubleshooting section of online instructions) Use the left-hand button to turn the bar on or off. Type in the text you want to search for (e.g.

“timoelliott”) and press Enter. Click outside the bar area in order to give control back to PowerPoint/move to next slide, etc.

The Twitter Bar will appear here in Presentation Mode(you may have to wait a few seconds for it to load)

To maintain status across slides, you must put the ticker bar in your slide master, as I have done here. See http://sapweb20.com/blog/powerpoint-twitter-tools/instructions

PowerPoint Twitter Update Bar

Note: This bar uses “basic authentication.” Because of Twitter/ Flash security restrictions, the file “powerpoint_twitter_update_status.swf” must be in the same directory as this slide deck for the bar to work.

PowerPoint Twitter Mood Meter

This tool is a variation on the twitter voting. The audience can tweet either: @votebytweet warmer myuniqueid @votebytweet colder myuniqueid

And the indicator in the bar will move to the right (warmer) or to the left (colder). The bar shows the average of the last n tweets (10 by default)

Usage example: at the start of a presentation, you ask the audience how they feel about a particular topic (e.g. “do you think SAP is an innovative company?”. Then the audience can tweet during the presentation if they agree/disagree, and the bar shows the current “mood”

As with the ticker bar, this should be installed in the powerpoint slide master if you want to use it across slides. See http://www.sapweb20.com/blog/powerpoint-twitter-tools/instructions for more details
