Salad Bar Stars Congratulations to all 21 school districts who won
salad bars through our21 Weeks of Giving campaign This program
has helped schools across the country serve fresh fruits and veggies to
their students and explore the possibilities of build your own bars with
dintildeerent bases such as baked or mashed potatoes Each chosen
school district not only received a salad bar but also a Spice Kit from
Kent Precision Foods colorful signage and a plush potato from
Learning Zone Express and our salad bar schematic guide Visit our

Menuing Potatoes from Monday to Friday We know two things 1)
working in school foodservice is tough and 2) kids love potatoes
Thats why weve created this 5-Day Breakfast and Lunch Meal Plan
to help inspire and show you how to serve delicious potato dishes to
your students every day of the week Inside the plan youll ogravend a
weekly breakfast menu for Grades K-12 and individual weekly lunch
plans for Grades K-5 6-8 and 9-12 Hang the menu calendar-style or
keep it handy during menu-planning season for easy reference Use
these plans and formulas as inspiration to help develop your potato-
centric menus Be sure to check with your State child nutrition stantilde
for help with incorporating these menus into your weekly plan

Favorite Potato Recipe
Our team created and implemented a Pop Up Salad Bar promotion
at Buchholz High School The focus was a joint promotion to feature
Farm to School Program and My Fresh from Florida Plate Day As for
the bar itself it had several bases one of which being a baked potato
It originally was only the potato and a salad but the potato sold out
the ograverst day after the ograverst hour so they had to introduce other bases
to keep up with demand
Caron says that presentation is key to getting students to try the bar
Students like to see items being constantly replenished because it
shows freshness and popularity An increase in participation was seen
each day during lunch service They also noted an increase with paid
students and faculty over the three-day period Word of mouth
helped to bring new customers each day
We had a parent call afterward astounded they were able to get their
child to eat not only a baked potato but salad for the ograverst time These
items have never been ontildeered at the home and the parents was so
grateful
Alachua County School Board had great success with a build your
