Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology
Introduction:
The prestigious Universidad Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid, worldwide recognised for its foremost higher educational programs and its commitment to research and continuous professional development, its delighted to present its first university accredited international Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology.
This unique program in Europe offers a practical based training pathway for dental practitioners with an interest in implant dentistry so that they are able to provide patients with high quality treatment, both in terms of aesthetics and function, as well as predictability of outcome. Participants work under the supervision of an experienced teaching faculty, which includes experts in the field, and the format of the course permits the busy practitioner to develop enhanced skills with minimal time away from practice.
Course aims
On completion of the programme participants should gain the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to:
• Identify the most important anatomical landmarks in oral surgery and implant dentistry.
• Select and use appropriate diagnostic test and preoperative screening methods for the preoperative preparation of the implant patient.
• Ensure and adequate aseptic environment for the provision of dental implants
• Define multiple applications of dental implants
• Define and carefully execute placement of dental implants safely.
• Carry out minor augmentation procedures required to augment deficient sites
• Define multiple implant supported prosthetic designs
• Identify and execute the provision of implant-supported prosthesis to achieve aesthetic and functional restorations to a high degree of predictability .
• Monitor and maintain the treatment that has been completed for the patient.
Course components
The program has been specifically designed to facilitate core knowledge and learning skills without the need to having to attend to several units throughout a year.
The program is divided in two main components:
1. Contact learning: A series of lectures, hands on exercises and clinical practice will take place during an intensive-week unit at the University. All delegates will take part of the clinical examination, diagnosis and treatment planning of patients at the University, and will be able to place dental implants under direct supervision. 2.Distance learning: Delegates will be provided with reading materials and suggested literature to critically review. In order to complete this module all delegates are required to complete certain exercises to be submitted online.
Upon completion of the intensive contact learning unit, all participants will be issued with a certificate of attendance (60h). An opportunity will be given to those participants interested in returning to the University after 4 months to restore their own clinical cases under mentoring. Adequate guidance and advise will be provided to fulfil the distance learning component. After satisfactory completion of both components, delegates will be provided with a certificate of achievement of the Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology (URJC).
Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology
Those participants willing to advance their skills and continue their educational pathway at the University will be encouraged to enrol into our advanced university diploma and use their credits towards the completion of the Diploma in Implant Dentistry URJC (Madrid).
