'The Business ComDittee ~t briefly with Sharon ~tz, who ~ to extend herthanks to the Tribe for our support, not only during the last election, butalso all the while she served in Madison.

The Business Committee stated it was an honor to support someone like herselfbecause of what she stood for on behalf of all the people, but especially ofher support on the issues effecting the Indian people.

Sharon Metz encouraged the Tribe to keep son:eone on top of the State Budget tosee what effects it will have on the Indian People.

After mlch discussion and review with the General Manager concerning optionsfor a Tribal Conn1I.1nity Developn:'eIlt Block Grant application, Carl felt thatthe convenience store outlets outlined by Dave PGlless stand the best chanceof receiving approval. These Y1OUld be at !.IE and EE" and at the IndustrialPark.

Carl RaSlIllssen is requesting the Business CQmDittee's prelim1.nary approval todevelop a full application around this idea. The full application will bebrought to the Business CoIIIDittee for approval before it is mailed to HUD.

Block Grants are mainly for construction purposes and are funded on a verycanpetitive point system. A minim.Im dollar for dollar ~tch has beenne~ssary in the past for funding.

On January 27, 1987, the Press Gazette ran an article entitled "Carlton LandLikely to Remain on City Tax Rolls". In the article, Attonley ThanEs01egniczak stated that he thinks it makes good business sense for the Tribe tobe a partner and pay their fair share.

John Powless had a concern on what action the Business ConD1ittee was going totake on putting the land into trust. It was explained that the BusinessCaIlDittee had not In9.de any decision about putting the fo~r Carlton propertyinto trust. At this titre, the Plarming Team for the developrrent of theCarlton property is looking into different options for the property as well asthe advantages and disadvantages of putting the property into trust. 'When theresearch is done, the Planning Team will bring rec~dations to the BusinessCamJittee for their review and direction. last year the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association helped to implaJElt thefirst Minnesota-Wisconsin Wrestling Classic. The "Classic" is a dual meetthat is held twice, once in Minnesota and once in Wisconsin. Each stateselects their best senior wrestlers to represent them in a contest that isheld at the end of the regular season. Kevin Skenandore has been honored as

Sponsorship is the coaches associations way offunding the event and raising mney for a worthwhile charity, the Human GrowthFoundation (HGF). HGF is a non-profit health organization which funds ~dicalreseardh and educational programs for children with serious physical growthfailure. In sponsoring Kevin Skenandore, we will also be helping thesechildren. Last years event raised nearly $20,000 for the foundation. To be asponsor all we have to do is buy a $10.00 or $25.00 booster ad. Sponsorshipis open to individuals as well as businesses.

After discussion, Lloyd Powless roved to sponsor Kevin Skenandore for $250 andthe request be sent to Finance & Appropriations for location of fulds. GordonMCLester seconded. Lois Powless and Mark Powless abstained. Mbtion carried.
