The National Institute of Mental Health, a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS),is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Scientific Director, Division of Intramural Research Programs (DIRP). The Scientific Director, DIRP will lead andmanage a vibrant basic, behavioral and clinical research program with a budget of approximately $160 million and a staff of over 1,000, including 53 independent principalinvestigators and over 300 pre/post doctoral and visiting fellows (http://intramural.nimh.nih.gov).

Assisted by a Board of Scientific Counselors, an external advisory group that undertakes rigorous reviews of the NIMH intramural research programs, the Scientific Direc-tor will be responsible for developing and implementing an overall vision for the DIRP that is consistent with the mission and strategic objectives of the NIMH. PROGRAM DIRECTOR, RETINAL DISEASES PROGRAMNATIONAL EYE INSTITUTE

grants and contracts program. The position advertised is for a Program Director in the Retinal Diseases Program. The Program supports clinical

The High Throughput Screening Core Facility (HTSCF) uses acombination of robotics, computational tools and small molecule librariesto study biological pathways and to discover novel probes whichpotentially could be developed as therapies for cancer, infectious diseases,immunology and virology. The facility develops, validates and performsboth chemical (ChemScan) and functional genomics (GeneScan)screening on biological assays submitted by the MSKCC investigators.

We are seeking a highly-motivated, multi-discipline trained scientist to joinour group to implement all aspects of cell based assay development andscreening. This position requires expert knowledge of cell biology and willwork closely with MSKCC investigators to develop and validate cell-basedassays for high-throughput screening of chemical, siRNA, and/orlentiviral based shRNA libraries. The candidate should have experience insignal transduction, phenotypic screens, and/or functional genomics.This position offers a unique opportunity for a talented scientist to workin a dynamic and innovative environment at the heart of basic researchand drug discovery and development.

Qualifications: A PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology,biophysics or a related field is required, with a minimum of three years ofindustrial experience in developing, troubleshooting, executing cell-basedassays in a variety of formats, and automated imaging screening, dataacquisition and analysis generating full HTS reports. We will also consideracademics with a strong performance record in similar scientific disciplines.Strong teamwork, good computer knowledge, organizational skills and writtenand verbal communication skills are essential. • Assistant Investigators in Systems Biology/Bioinformatics: Focus areas will be: 1) diabetes, 2)HIV and other infectious agents. The goal of this research is to identify mechanisms of pathogenesis and

clinical correlates, eventually leading to the development of novel therapeutic and diagnostic modalities.

The field of investigation encompasses a wide range of diseases and leverages state-of-the-art genomicanalysis.

• Postdoctoral positions are available in a variety of areas. BIIR has recently established the Center for Personalized Medicine to exploit the rapid advances in

The College of Pharmacy at Oregon State Universityinvites applications for a 12month tenure track positionin Pharmaceutics at theAssistant orAssociate Profes-sor level. A successful candidate will join a dynamic

group devoted to utilizing molecular techniques, micro/nanotechnology,cell culture, geneticallymodified rodentmodels and other novel approachesto optimize drug delivery and drug absorption. Candidates should possessresearch experience in pharmaceutics or biopharmaceutics and will beexpected to establish a vigorous extramurally funded research programtraining graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in their area of exper-tise. Teaching responsibilities include participation in pharmaceutics andbiopharmaceutics courses within the professional Pharm.D. program andgraduate courses in the candidate’s research specialty.

APh.D. degree is required in Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics, or a relatedfield. Candidates with innovative post-doctoral experience, evidence ofsecuring research funding and potential for teaching in pharmaceutics andbiopharmaceutics will be given preference.
