Much has changed in the thirty yearssince POLIGON built the first tubular steelpark shelter. While a new shelter may havethe same silhouette as an earlier model,POLIGON continually upgrades andimproves the structure, materials andprocesses to make our products the best. Here is how POLIGON continues to excel:

Our bolt-together steel frames, cleandesign, engineering and hidden fastenersrevolutionized shelter design. POLIGONcontinues to be at the forefront of shelterdesign with over 10,000 of the industrysbest gazebos, shelters, pavilions, pergolasand trellises manufactured. POLIGONalso helps clients bring their customdesigns to life. Our skilled design teamwelcomes this challenge and the opportu-

    nity to assist customers directly.

Our manufacturing facilities include com-puter-aided saws, punches, plate and tubelasers, part identification machines, aneight direction shot blaster and an in-house environmentally friendly powdercoat line. Our detailers and designerswork with state-of-the-art design softwarethat interfaces directly with computerizedmanufacturing equipment.

By coordinating shipping schedules withour just in time continuous flow shopprocess, POLIGON maintains our high pri-ority of on-time shipments. Customerconcerns are always given top priority withimmediate personal attention by ourQuality Specialists.

POLIGONs Quality Management System wasdeveloped using the ISO standard as a modeland has both a full time Certified WeldingInspector and Quality Manager on staff.

PorterCorp employs over 100 of thebrightest, most professional and dedicat-ed workers around. From manufacturingto engineering and sales, the entirePorterCorp team takes great pride in cre-ating shelters that enhance communitiesacross the globe.

POLIGON forever changed the way shel-ters look with the introduction of the firsttubular steel park shelter in 1976, andwere changing things still today. Whatremains the same, however, is our dedica-tion to excellence. Synonymous with

beautiful, high-quality shelters, POLIGONcontinues to define top of the line. Some things dont change.

Weve changed our model num-bering system on all polygonal (more thanfour-sided) shelters and gazebos. Ourshelters have traditionally been measuredcolumn to column. This made POLIGONshelters seem smaller when compared toshelters measured eave point to eavepoint. To alleviate comparison confusionin specifications, model numbers havebeen altered to reflect an eave point toeave pointmeasurement. Heres an exam-ple: old number: GOC 24; new number:GCO 27. All shelters affected by thischange are shown with both the old andnew model numbers above the correspon-ding line drawing. For a complete crossreference chart, contact POLIGON or visitour website at www.poligon.com.

Any shelter shown in this catalog with a cata-log number and an elevation line drawing isconsidered Standard. Standard shelters arepriced cafeteria style. Shelters start with ashot-blast and powder coated frame and roofdeck only. (Any exceptions will be noted on

the submittal.) Other features can be addedexcept where noted in this catalog. Standardshelters are offered with a choice of 27 pow-der coat colors for frame and three distinctoptions in roof decks: 24 gauge steel Kynar-painted Multi-Rib

faced 5/8 plywood, grooved 4 OC.

Roofing is an added option except when Multi Rib(R panel) is used as a roof deck and roofingtogether. Metal roof systems come with a choiceof Kynar colors (see page 51 for color selection).Standard shelters are engineered and built to sus-tain 100 MPH wind loads, 30 PSF roof snow loadsand 35.7 PSF ground snow loads. Shelters comewith a one step pinned base except when heav-ier loads require a fixed base.

Standard POLIGON add-ons are a variety offeatures that may be added cafeteria-style toPOLIGON Standard Shelters, POLIGONSpecial Shelters and Custom Shelters.

E-coating of entire frame E-coating of ornamentation (highly recom-

mended) Prime coat (deduct option) Clear coat over powder coat Cupolas (except where noted) Multi-Rib (R panel) roofing over roof deck Medallion-Lok (standing seam) roofing Asphalt shingles

decorative columns Ornamentation and handrails Laser cut nameplate Professional Engineer stamped drawings Higher wind and/or snow load capacities Electrical access Outlet box cutouts Lightning protection Galvanizing Anchor bolts

    Added height under tension member

POLIGON Specials utilize standard POLIGONshelters as a beginning, but go on to employ

custom colors, components, shapes, roofpitch, non-standard loads, or materials. Thesechanges can beautify, connect, divide, struc-turally or cosmetically enhance the shelter.

Custom shelters stand completely outside ofstandard POLIGON designs. They may havedifferent shapes, sizes, junctures, and details, and require a completely new set of engineer-ing drawings. These sheltersgenerallyhave nooutward or internal visual resemblance to stan-dard POLIGON products.

The first step inthe finish process is to shotblast the steel. This 8-direc-tion process cleans the metal to

near white. It strips away millscale, welding slag, oils andother contaminants, leaving asuper clean surface for thecoating to adhere to.

is our most popular and econom-ical finish. The steel is coatedwith a Super-Durable PolyesterTGIC Powder. This finish isdesigned for excellent outdoordurability and fade resistance. It

is tough, resilient and will with-stand harsh environments whileretaining its smooth high-glossfinish for years to come.

combines a dip process with anelectro-deposition appliedepoxy coating that bonds to thesteel. The combination of E-

coating and powder coating isour most durable finish and rec-ommended for coastal applica-tions or other humid climates.

is electrostatically applied whenfield painting is required and pro-vides a good base for otherpaints. The corrosion protectionof Polyester TGIC powder coatprimer is superior to typical water-based red oxide primers.

mis a simple, long-accepted methodof protecting steel from rust. Itworks best on plain sheets, basictubes and other uncomplicatedparts, resulting in a spangled silverfinish. It provides the best corro-sion protection in salt-air condi-tions but is also the most expen-sive finishing system. It is possibleto powder coat over galvanizedsteel, however the hot dip finish isnot smooth and irregularities arelikely to occur.

In many cases itspossible to match the frame to metal roof colors, shown in the Color Availability Matrix, below.

sWhen trying to exactly match a color, keep inmind that not all colors are colorfast and somemay fade when exposed to UV rays. Since thepigments used to develop custom colors areenvironmentally friendly, this may limit therange of color choices. Matching colors alsorequires additional lead time and cost.

    1. Submit a sample of the desired colorswatch, a minimum of 3 x 3 toPOLIGON.

    2. POLIGON will develop as close a match aspossible without sacrificing colorfastness

or environmental considerations. We willsubmit two 3 x 5 powder coated colorsamples for review and approval.

    3. If acceptable, one sample shall be signedand dated by the customer and returnedto POLIGON. Upon receipt of theapproved sample, a custom batch of colorwill be produced.

    4. If not acceptable, return one sample anddescribe the nature of the correctiondesired. POLIGON will develop one morecolor sample and submit it for approval.

    5. Production of a custom color will not

begin until an approved sample isreceived by POLIGON.

    6. Additional time is required for customcolors, affecting delivery lead time.

    7. The process also requires special pricingto cover the cost of development timeand materials.
