Scribe and cut ceiling panels at borders and penetrations to provide a neat, precise fit. iv) Install panels with pattern running in one direction parallel to long axis of space. v) Install reveal-edged panels with bottom of reveal in firm contact with top surface of runner flanges. vi) Paint cut edges of panel remaining exposed after installation; match color of exposed panel surfaces using coating recommended by Acoustical Panel Manufacturer. 6) Carpet: a) Carpet tile 1 (CPT-1): Shaw Contract Group, No Rules, Color 05500 Versatile, 59106 Linage, or approved equal. i) Adhesives: Install with mildew-resistant, nonstaining type adhesive to suit products and subfloor conditions, that complies with flammability requirements for installed carpet, and is recommended or provided by Carpet Manufacturer. b) Preparation: Comply with CRI 104, Section 7.3, "Site Conditions; Floor Preparation," and with Carpet Manufacturer’s written installation instructions for preparing substrates. i) Remove adhesives or other materials that may be bonded to the slab, in accordance with the Carpet Manufacturer’s substrate preparation instructions. ii) Use trowelable leveling and patching compounds, according to Manufacturer’s written instructions, to fill cracks, holes, depressions, and protrusions in substrates. iii) Remove coatings, old adhesives, and other substances that are incompatible with adhesives and that contain soap, wax, oil, or silicone, without using solvents. Broom and vacuum clean substrates to be covered immediately before installing carpet. c) Direct-Glue-Down Installation: Comply with Carpet Manufacturer's written installation instructions. i) Install tiles in quarter turn pattern. Cut and fit carpet to butt tightly to vertical surfaces and permanent fixtures. ii) Extend carpet into toe spaces, door reveals, closets, open-bottomed obstructions, removable flanges, alcoves, and similar openings. iii) Install to comply with Carpet Manufacturer’s written recommendations. 7) Resilient Base: a) Resilient Base at carpet: Armstrong Color-Integrated Wall Base, or approved equal. Color: 59 Charcoal Gray. b) Install wall base in lengths as long as practicable without gaps at seams and with tops of adjacent pieces aligned. Use joint sealant. 9) Painting & finishing: a) Paint all partitions & other exposed areas, including but not limited to ceiling bulkheads, walls, doors and frames. b) Apply paint according to Manufacturer’s written instructions. Use applicators and techniques best suited for substrate and type of material being used. c) Provide Manufacturer’s best quality paint material for the coatings specified. d) Examine substrates, areas, and conditions under which painting will be performed for compliance with paint application requirements. Remove dirt, rust, scale, grease, moisture, scuffed surfaces, or conditions detrimental to formation of a durable paint film before painting the surface. Do not begin to apply paint until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected and surfaces receiving paint are thoroughly dry. e) Provide finish coats that are compatible with primers used. f) Provide the number of coats and film thickness required regardless of the application method. g) Do not apply succeeding coats until the previous coat has cured for the full time period recommended by the Manufacturer. h) Sand between applications if sanding is required to produce a smooth, even surface. i) Omit primer on items that have been shop primed. Touch up and re-prime areas that have been exposed (i.e., door undercuts, etc.) before applying final coats. j) Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted according to the Manufacturer’s written instructions for each particular substrate condition. k) Clean galvanized surfaces with non-petroleum-based solvents so surface is free of oil and contaminants before painting. l) Protect work of other trades, whether being painted or not, against damage by painting. Correct damage by cleaning, repairing, replacing, and/or repainting to the Tenant's satisfaction. m) Provide "wet paint" signs to protect newly painted finishes. n) Remove temporary protective wrappings, provided to protect work by others, after completing painting operations. o) Mask window mullions, hardware, hinges and other items that cannot be removed. Remove all masking before the Architect's final inspection. p) Remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint materials from the site at the end of each workday. q) Paint schedule: provide the number of coats necessary to cover but not less than one (1) prime coat and two (2) finish coats on new and patched surfaces. Use specific paint recommended by Paint Manufacturer based upon substrate and finish specified below: i.) Interior gypsum wallboard (unless otherwise noted) a) 1 coat, drywall primer, vinyl latex sealer: all gypsum wallboard surfaces. b) 2 coats, ultra-deluxe interior vinyl egg shell finish: Color to be selected by Architect. ii) Painted wood doors (factory primed): a) 2 coats: deluxe latex satin finish. Color to be selected by Architect. iii) Hollow metal door jambs & door closer covers at painted doors a) 2 coats: deluxe latex semi-gloss finish. Color to be selected by Architect. 10) Architecturcal Woodwork a) Provide shop drawings showing dimensions and details, including all joints and connections. b) Installation: install architedctural woodwork plumb, level, true, and straight with no distortions. i.) Shim as required using concealed shims. Install to a tolerance of 1/16" in 8'-0" for plumb and level. ii.) Anchor woodwork to metal wall studs. Secure to grounds with countersunk concealed fasteners and blind nailing as required for a complete installation. iii.) Scribe work to fit adjoining surfaces. Woodwork shall be accurately and neatly fitted together by skilled Finish Carpenters. Microwave - Sharp R-21LTF or approved equal. 13) Toilet Accessories a) Refer to Toilet Fixture Schedule and Shower Room Elevations. b) Provide blocking in the wall for mounting of all accessories. 14) Electrical switch plates & devices: a) The visible elements of all new devices (switch plates, switches, receptacles, etc.) shall be white plastic with smooth finish. Replace remaining existing devices and plates so that elements match new devices. 15) Mechanical: a) See mechanical specifications and notes on Sheet M0.0. 16) Electrical: a) See electrical specifications and notes on Sheet E0.0. GENERAL NOTES A. GOVERNING CODE All work shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of the 2012 VUSBC, and local codes, laws, regulations, and ordinances. The Building Code Authority is the Virginia Department of General Services (DGS), Bureau of Capital Outlay Management (BCOM), Division of Engineering and Buildings (DEB). The General Contractor shall comply with the 2012 Virginia State Fire Prevention Code and NFPA 241-2004. The General Contractor shall maintain a copy of the above documents at the site. B. PRICING The General Contractor shall promplty notify the Architect and Owner for clarification of any ambiguity or inconsistency which he may discover upon examination of the Construction Documents or the site and existing conditions prior to submitting his price. The General Contractor, by making his bid, represents that: a. He has read and understands the documents and his bid is made in accordance therewith. b. He has visited the site, has familiarized himself with the site and job conditions and jurisdictional requirements under which the work is to be performed and has correlated his observations with the requirements of the Contract Documents. c. His price is based upon the materials, systems, and equipment required by the Bidding Documents without exception. The General Contractor shall contact the Owner's Representative to make an appointment to visit the site. Failure to visit the site will not relieve the General Contractor of the obligation to furnish all material and labor necessary to carry out the provisions of the Contract Documents and to complete the work for the consideration set forth in his bid. The Owner's Representative is Pat Didonato and her phone number is 703-323-3714. C. OWNER OCCUPANCY The building and site will be occupied during construction. The Contractor shall obtain the Owner's approval and coordinate and schedule in advance with the Owner all work that may affect the Owner's operations. Such work includes deliveries, storage of materials, staging operations, interior work including removal and replacement interior finishes and work above the ceilings, interruptions in power, air conditioning and heating, and similar work. If necessary to accommodate the Owner's schedule, some outages may need to be scheduled after hours or on weekends. See specifications for additional information. D. MEASUREMENTS & EXISTING CONDITIONS Dimensions are from finished face of construction to finish face of construction unless noted otherwise. Information contained in these documents is based on existing documents and field measurements. The Contractor shall field verify existing conditions and all measurements at the building and shall be responsible for correctness of same. Where conflicts occur between the documents and the existing conditions, the Contractor shall notify the Architect for resolution of discrepancies before proceeding with the work. The hazardous material survey report is available for informational purposes only. The scopes of work as described in the report are not part of this contract for construction or for this building permit submission. The Owner will have all hazardous material removal performed under a separate contract with a Qualified Contractor, under a separate building permit as submitted and approved by BCOM Officials. Scope of work pertaining to the removal of hazardous materials will be performed prior to the commencement of any work associated with this project permit. E. DEMOLITION Demolition includes controlled destruction of existing construction and the removal and disposal of demolished materials as shown on the drawings and/or included in these notes. Demolition shall be performed in sections small enough so as not to endanger any adjacent materials or facilities to remain in place. Provide adequate shoring, bracing, and protection to prevent movement, settlement, collapse, or damage to existing materials or facilities which are to remain. Contractor shall submit to the Architect for review and acceptance, prior to beginning the work, complete details of shoring procedures signed by a registered Professional Engineer. Promptly repair all damages caused by the demolition to adjacent facilities or materials at no cost to the Owner. F. CUTTING & PATCHING OF THE WORK The Contractor shall be responsible for all cutting, fitting, and patching that may be required to complete the work and make its several parts fit together to achieve the professional quality of new work. Where existing construction is disturbed, the affected area shall be replaced and repaired with matching materials and finishes and blended with existing work. Where paint cannot be touched up to match, repaint entire surface. G. TEMPORARY FACILITIES The Owner will provide utilities available from the existing building for use by the Contractor. The Contractor shall provide temporary toilet facilities for the workmen and shall make additional provisions if required to accomplish the work. At the completion of construction and before request for final payment, all existing facilities used by the Contractor shall be cleaned and restored to original condition to the Owner's satisfaction. H. TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION BARRIERS The Contractor will comply with the Owner's and local jurisdiction's requirements for erection of non-combustible safety barricades for protection of people and property at and around all work areas. Paint with appropriate colors, graphics, and warning signs to inform personnel and the public of the hazard being protected against. The Contractor must maintain access to all exits and maintain required egress passage widths throughout the demolition and construction period. The egress passage may not be used as a pathway to transport materials to and from the area of work while the building is occupied. I. FIELD COORDINATION Contractor shall coordinate building access neccessary to perform the work with the Owner's Representative. Contractor shall protect the space and equipment that is outside of the specific area of work from damage. Should any damage occur, Contractor shall repair to the Owner's satisfaction at no additional cost to the Owner. J. WORK EXECUTION All materials and products are to be manufactured, assembled, and installed in accordance with Manufacturer's recommendations, requirements, and shop drawings. Contractor shall post a fire watch complying with Chapter 26 of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code for any welding and other hot work. The fire watch shall extend a minimum of two hours after the welding and/or hot work is complete. K. CLEANING The work site must be kept clean of construction debris and discarded packaging material. The Contractor shall arrange for his own trash containers and their removal. Location of the containers must be coordinated with the Owner's Representative. Trash to be disposed of in a proper and legal manner. All work shall be thoroughly cleaned and polished before final inspection. Cleaning must be approved by the Owner prior to final acceptance. L. SHOP DRAWINGS & SUBMITTALS Submit shop drawings and product data to the Architect for the following items. Shop drawings, product data, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, qualifications, and other required applicable information for a single specification section shall be consolidated into one submittal or as few submittals as economically possible. Shop drawings shall be sufficient in scale and detail to indicate materials, methods of fabrication, joints, and general configuration. Work shall not commence on each item until the Owner has approved the submittal. Submit samples only for items below marked with an asterisk (*). a. Doors, Frames, & Hardware b. Carpet Tile* c.     a) Bullet Resistant Fiberglass Panels shall be USFA 3 Armor by US Bulletproofing, UL 752 Level 3, 1/2" thick, 5 lbsper sq. ft., or approved equal.

    b) Bullet Resistant Fiberglass shall be of the "non-ricochet type". The design is intended to permit the capture andretention of an attacking projectile lessening the potential of a random injury or lateral penetration.

    c) Install in accordance with the Manufacturer's printed recommendations.d) All joints shall be reinforced by a back-up layer of bullet resistant material. The bullet resistance of the joint, as

    reinforced, shall be at least equal to that panel. Minimum width of reinforcing layer at joint shall be 4-inches (2" oneach panel or a 2" minimum overlap).

    e) Install supporting members prior to bullet resistant material. Contractor shall verify that all supports have beeninstalled as required by the contract documents.

    5) Suspended Ceilings:a) Metal Suspension Systems:

    i) Armstrong 'Silhouette' 9/16" bolt slot 1/8" reveal grid system, to match existing building standards. Color: White.ii) Install ceiling in accordance with UL G031 floor assembly at corridor.iii) Install hangers plumb and free from contact with insulation or other objects within ceiling plenum that are not

    part of supporting structure or of ceiling suspension system. Splay hangers only where required to missobstructions; offset resulting horizontal forces by bracing, countersplaying, or other equally effective means.

    iv) Where width of ducts and other construction within ceiling plenum produces obstructions, install supplementalsuspension members and hangers in form of trapezes or equivalent devices.

    v) Secure wire hangers directly to structures or to inserts, eye screws, or other devices that are secure andappropriate for substrate.

    b) Acoustical Panels:i) Armstrong 'Georgian/Silhouette' Beveled Tegular Tile with HumiGuard Plus, #1753, 24"x 24"x 9/16",

    to match existing building standards. Color: White.ii) Install acoustical panel ceilings to comply with ASTM C 636, per Manufacturer’s written instructions and

    CISCA’s "Ceiling Systems Handbook."iii) Install acoustical panels with undamaged edges and fit accurately into suspension system runners and edge

    moldings. Scribe and cut ceiling panels at borders and penetrations to provide a neat, precise fit.iv) Install panels with pattern running in one direction parallel to long axis of space.v) Install reveal-edged panels with bottom of reveal in firm contact with top surface of runner flanges.vi) Paint cut edges of panel remaining exposed after installation; match color of exposed panel surfaces using

    coating recommended by Acoustical Panel Manufacturer.6) Carpet:

    a) Carpet tile 1 (CPT-1): Shaw Contract Group, No Rules, Color 05500 Versatile, 59106 Linage, or approved equal.i) Adhesives: Install with mildew-resistant, nonstaining type adhesive to suit products and subfloor conditions,

    that complies with flammability requirements for installed carpet, and is recommended or provided by CarpetManufacturer.

    b) Preparation: Comply with CRI 104, Section 7.3, "Site Conditions; Floor Preparation," and with CarpetManufacturer’s written installation instructions for preparing substrates.i) Remove adhesives or other materials that may be bonded to the slab, in accordance with the Carpet

    Manufacturer’s substrate preparation instructions.ii) Use trowelable leveling and patching compounds, according to Manufacturer’s written instructions, to fill

    cracks, holes, depressions, and protrusions in substrates.iii) Remove coatings, old adhesives, and other substances that are incompatible with adhesives and that

    contain soap, wax, oil, or silicone, without using solvents. Broom and vacuum clean substrates to becovered immediately before installing carpet.

    c) Direct-Glue-Down Installation: Comply with Carpet Manufacturer's written installation instructions.i) Install tiles in quarter turn pattern. Cut and fit carpet to butt tightly to vertical surfaces and permanent

    fixtures.ii) Extend carpet into toe spaces, door reveals, closets, open-bottomed obstructions, removable flanges,

    alcoves, and similar openings.iii) Install to comply with Carpet Manufacturer’s written recommendations.

    7) Resilient Base:a) Resilient Base at carpet: Armstrong Color-Integrated Wall Base, or approved equal. Rubber, no toe, 1/8" thick,

    4 inches high, from continuous coil. Corners may be job formed. Color: 59 Charcoal Gray.b) Install wall base in lengths as long as practicable without gaps at seams and with tops of adjacent pieces aligned.

    Tightly adhere wall base to substrate throughout length of each piece, with base in continuous contact withhorizontal and vertical substrates.

    c) In carpeted areas, install the base before the carpet is installed.d) Attach to partitions using Manufacturer's approved adhesive and without wrinkling, gaps at seams or top,

    bulging at corners, or adhesive overflow.8) Ceramic Tile:

    9) Painting & finishing:a) Paint all partitions & other exposed areas, including but not limited to ceiling bulkheads, walls, doors and frames.b) Apply paint according to Manufacturer’s written instructions. Use applicators and techniques best suited for substrate

    and type of material being used.c) Provide Manufacturer’s best quality paint material for the coatings specified.d) Examine substrates, areas, and conditions under which painting will be performed for compliance with paint

    application requirements. Remove dirt, rust, scale, grease, moisture, scuffed surfaces, or conditions detrimental toformation of a durable paint film before painting the surface. Do not begin to apply paint until unsatisfactory conditionshave been corrected and surfaces receiving paint are thoroughly dry.

    e) Provide finish coats that are compatible with primers used.f) Provide the number of coats and film thickness required regardless of the application method.g) Do not apply succeeding coats until the previous coat has cured for the full time period recommended by the

    Manufacturer.h) Sand between applications if sanding is required to produce a smooth, even surface.i) Omit primer on items that have been shop primed. Touch up and re-prime areas that have been exposed (i.e.,

    door undercuts, etc.) before applying final coats.j) Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted according to the Manufacturer’s written instructions for each particular

    substrate condition.k) Clean galvanized surfaces with non-petroleum-based solvents so surface is free of oil and contaminants before painting.l) Protect work of other trades, whether being painted or not, against damage by painting. Correct damage by cleaning,

    repairing, replacing, and/or repainting to the Tenant's satisfaction.m) Provide "wet paint" signs to protect newly painted finishes.n) Remove temporary protective wrappings, provided to protect work by others, after completing painting operations.o) Mask window mullions, hardware, hinges and other items that cannot be removed. Remove all masking before the

    Architect's final inspection.p) Remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint materials from the site at the end of each workday.q) Paint schedule: provide the number of coats necessary to cover but not less than one (1) prime coat and two (2)

    finish coats on new and patched surfaces. Use specific paint recommended by Paint Manufacturer based uponsubstrate and finish specified below:i.) Interior gypsum wallboard (unless otherwise noted)

    a) 1 coat, drywall primer, vinyl latex sealer: all gypsum wallboard surfaces.b) 2 coats, ultra-deluxe interior vinyl egg shell finish: Color to be selected by Architect.

    ii) Painted wood doors (factory primed):a) 2 coats: deluxe latex satin finish. Color to be selected by Architect.

    iii) Hollow metal door jambs & door closer covers at painted doorsa) 2 coats: deluxe latex semi-gloss finish. Color to be selected by Architect.

    10) Architecturcal Woodworka) Provide shop drawings showing dimensions and details, including all joints and connections.b) Installation: install architedctural woodwork plumb, level, true, and straight with no distortions.

    i.) Shim as required using concealed shims. Install to a tolerance of 1/16" in 8'-0" for plumb and level.ii.) Anchor woodwork to metal wall studs. Secure to grounds with countersunk concealed fasteners and blind nailing as

    required for a complete installation.iii.) Scribe work to fit adjoining surfaces. Woodwork shall be accurately and neatly fitted together by skilled Finish

    Carpenters. Neatly fit all hardware.c) Solid Surface Material - Counter & Backsplash: Silestone Quartz Surface, Color: Blanco City, or approved equal.d) Solid Surface Material - Integral Bowl: Whitee) Wood - Cabinets: Merillat Classic, Fusion style or approved equal. Color to be selected by Architect.

    11) Counter Support Bracketsa) Rakks EH-1818-FM Flush Mount Brackets, or approved equal.b) Install per Manufacturer guidelines. Determine support spacing per Manufacturer guidelines.

    12) Appliancesa) Provide and install appliances per Manufacturer's guidelines for Break Room 240G.

    i.) Refrigerator - 20 cubic feet, Side-By-Side; GE GSS20ESHSS or approved equal.ii.) Microwave - Sharp R-21LTF or approved equal.

    13) Toilet Accessoriesa) Refer to Toilet Fixture Schedule and Shower Room Elevations.b) Provide blocking in the wall for mounting of all accessories.

    14) Electrical switch plates & devices:a) The visible elements of all new devices (switch plates, switches, receptacles, etc.) shall be white plastic with

    smooth finish. Replace remaining existing devices and plates so that elements match new devices.15) Mechanical:

    GENERAL NOTESA. GOVERNING CODE

    All work shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of the 2012 VUSBC, and localcodes, laws, regulations, and ordinances. The Building Code Authority is the Virginia Departmentof General Services (DGS), Bureau of Capital Outlay Management (BCOM), Division of Engineeringand Buildings (DEB).The General Contractor shall comply with the 2012 Virginia State Fire Prevention Code andNFPA 241-2004. The General Contractor shall maintain a copy of the above documents at thesite.

    B. PRICINGThe General Contractor shall promplty notify the Architect and Owner for clarification of anyambiguity or inconsistency which he may discover upon examination of the ConstructionDocuments or the site and existing conditions prior to submitting his price. The GeneralContractor, by making his bid, represents that:

    a. He has read and understands the documents and his bid is made in accordance therewith.b. He has visited the site, has familiarized himself with the site and job conditions and

    jurisdictional requirements under which the work is to be performed and has correlated hisobservations with the requirements of the Contract Documents.

    c. His price is based upon the materials, systems, and equipment required by the BiddingDocuments without exception. The General Contractor shall contact the Owner'sRepresentative to make an appointment to visit the site. Failure to visit the site will notrelieve the General Contractor of the obligation to furnish all material and labor necessaryto carry out the provisions of the Contract Documents and to complete the work for theconsideration set forth in his bid.The Owner's Representative is Pat Didonato and her phone number is 703-323-3714.

    C. OWNER OCCUPANCYThe building and site will be occupied during construction. The Contractor shall obtain the Owner'sapproval and coordinate and schedule in advance with the Owner all work that may affect theOwner's operations. Such work includes deliveries, storage of materials, staging operations,interior work including removal and replacement interior finishes and work above the ceilings,interruptions in power, air conditioning and heating, and similar work. If necessary toaccommodate the Owner's schedule, some outages may need to be scheduled after hours or onweekends. See specifications for additional information.

    D. MEASUREMENTS & EXISTING CONDITIONSDimensions are from finished face of construction to finish face of construction unless notedotherwise.Information contained in these documents is based on existing documents and field measurements.The Contractor shall field verify existing conditions and all measurements at the building and shallbe responsible for correctness of same. Where conflicts occur between the documents and theexisting conditions, the Contractor shall notify the Architect for resolution of discrepanciesbefore proceeding with the work.The hazardous material survey report is available for informational purposes only. The scopes ofwork as described in the report are not part of this contract for construction or for this buildingpermit submission. The Owner will have all hazardous material removal performed under a separatecontract with a Qualified Contractor, under a separate building permit as submitted and approvedby BCOM Officials. Scope of work pertaining to the removal of hazardous materials will beperformed prior to the commencement of any work associated with this project permit.

    E. DEMOLITIONDemolition includes controlled destruction of existing construction and the removal and disposalof demolished materials as shown on the drawings and/or included in these notes.Demolition shall be performed in sections small enough so as not to endanger any adjacentmaterials or facilities to remain in place. Provide adequate shoring, bracing, and protection toprevent movement, settlement, collapse, or damage to existing materials or facilities which are toremain. Contractor shall submit to the Architect for review and acceptance, prior to beginning thework, complete details of shoring procedures signed by a registered Professional Engineer.Promptly repair all damages caused by the demolition to adjacent facilities or materials at no costto the Owner.

    F. CUTTING & PATCHING OF THE WORKThe Contractor shall be responsible for all cutting, fitting, and patching that may be required tocomplete the work and make its several parts fit together to achieve the professional quality ofnew work. Where existing construction is disturbed, the affected area shall be replaced andrepaired with matching materials and finishes and blended with existing work. Where paint cannotbe touched up to match, repaint entire surface.

    G. TEMPORARY FACILITIESThe Owner will provide utilities available from the existing building for use by the Contractor. TheContractor shall provide temporary toilet facilities for the workmen and shall make additionalprovisions if required to accomplish the work. At the completion of construction and beforerequest for final payment, all existing facilities used by the Contractor shall be cleaned andrestored to original condition to the Owner's satisfaction.

    H. TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION BARRIERSThe Contractor will comply with the Owner's and local jurisdiction's requirements for erection ofnon-combustible safety barricades for protection of people and property at and around all workareas. Paint with appropriate colors, graphics, and warning signs to inform personnel and thepublic of the hazard being protected against. The Contractor must maintain access to all exits andmaintain required egress passage widths throughout the demolition and construction period. Theegress passage may not be used as a pathway to transport materials to and from the area ofwork while the building is occupied.

    I. FIELD COORDINATIONContractor shall coordinate building access neccessary to perform the work with the Owner'sRepresentative. Contractor shall protect the space and equipment that is outside of the specificarea of work from damage. Should any damage occur, Contractor shall repair to the Owner'ssatisfaction at no additional cost to the Owner.

    J. WORK EXECUTIONAll materials and products are to be manufactured, assembled, and installed in accordance withManufacturer's recommendations, requirements, and shop drawings. Contractor shall post a firewatch complying with Chapter 26 of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code for any weldingand other hot work. The fire watch shall extend a minimum of two hours after the welding and/orhot work is complete.

    K. CLEANINGThe work site must be kept clean of construction debris and discarded packaging material. TheContractor shall arrange for his own trash containers and their removal. Location of the containersmust be coordinated with the Owner's Representative. Trash to be disposed of in a proper andlegal manner. All work shall be thoroughly cleaned and polished before final inspection. Cleaningmust be approved by the Owner prior to final acceptance.

    L. SHOP DRAWINGS & SUBMITTALSSubmit shop drawings and product data to the Architect for the following items. Shop drawings,product data, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, qualifications, and other requiredapplicable information for a single specification section shall be consolidated into one submittal oras few submittals as economically possible. Shop drawings shall be sufficient in scale and detail toindicate materials, methods of fabrication, joints, and general configuration. Work shall notcommence on each item until the Owner has approved the submittal. Submit samples only foritems below marked with an asterisk (*).
