Poets are like Literary Prophets/Visionaries....Chosen just like Moses to stand on the peak ofmountains and commune with God and receive instructions to take back to themasses....Come on Poet...go ahead and Speak!!!!

Page 3: Poet speak issue 19

The Poet:

An endangered species

Capable of delving deep down into the caverns of wisdom and extracting reality; lethalwith words and the truth;

The Female - bold and articulate

The Male - fierce and indestructible

The Poet is not lost and remains one of the few who can find the way;

The Poet does not share a human weakness of blindness but gains a burst of insightfrom the Divine;

Rarely understood, this creature walks lonely paths undetected, quietly deciphering hid-den codes of human behaviour and emotions

The Poet has a light diet and does not digest lies and general foolishness very well;

General population should beware when a Poet is around because the Poet will notback down when the truth is on the line;

With a frank and outspoken heart, the Poet will reveal what has been cloaked;

Chosen to stand apart, the Poet is a Revelator,

A literary Scientist, a Unique Specimen indeed…

"Did i not hear thy choric hymns of deep throat-sore voices?""harsh-tunes of broken harpists' songs in disharmony"

"in this day so dared that was never dawn""laments of nights so hidden that was never gone"

"knew not cheer in this piercing comfort worn""whence and here in lamp-flame pity"

"tattered-soul poverty in clothe's charity""thence am here o death i do not hide o take me"

"brought me from paradise to this home of unreal flames""i die in this ungraceful dome of real pains"

"a thousand times more than life i breath in one vain""daylight now a dark and pale hearted night"

"daylight a mockery to my night""tender heart choke in the clobbering baskets o' thorns"

"bleeding a bloodless bleeding on unnamed floors""my tears i let into the earth soon more to drain this torment's woe"

"o drunk love i drown, i stagger, you're deeper than deep wine""butchered soul lain quietly in laments watery lime"

"in forgotten memories stamped beneath blankets by friendly foes""only waking to death of days as they pass by on toes"

"a widow whose groom was not by death stolen""who did not die, whom it’s forbidden to embrace"

"who walks among the living, no more lace""by light's glitter died with the setting sun in the west"

"hands bid farewell before on left cheek moist of kisses wept""sooner than now till little dim, bye and bye black lullaby"

"singing the strange song of the broken hearts tie"©2014 Friday Ogba

ELEMENT OF FREEDOM...I USE TO THINK MY MIND WAS THE SAFEST HAVEN I COULD RUN THROUGH, BUT I ALWAYSHEARD ONCE THE WAR HAS STARTED YOU CAN'T TURN BACK CAUSE THERE'S NOTHIN' LEFT TOGO BACK TO... JUST EMPTY SHELLS AND SHREDDED SHRAPNEL, LIKE WARPED WOOD ON PIANOKEYZ THAT HENRY STEINWAY COULDN'T REBUILD IF HE USE OAK TREES AND THE SHARPESTSCALPEL.... SO HOW DO I KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING WHEN MY FAVORITE INSTRUMENT HAS BEENCOMPLETELY BROKEN, DAMAGED BECAUSE SOME ONE LEFT THE CASING OF THE COVER TO THEKEY DOOR OPEN... A FINE BABY GRAND DESTROYED FROM NOT BEING PRESERVED, SOFT TUNESWITH NO MELODY NOW WAS THAT EVEN DESERVED... ALICIA WOULD SELL OUT CONCERTSWHEN HER KEYZ WOULD PLAY PHENOMENALLY, HITTING HER INFAMOUS HIGH NOTES THATWOULD ADHERE TO HIM SUBCONSCIOUSLY.... THE BLIND SONGSTRESS AND THE DEAF COMPOS-ER HAVE WRITTEN HYMNS THAT CHURCH CHOIRS COULDN'T HARMONIZE WITHOUT POSSESS-ING A CERTAIN TYPE OF TUNE, THAT'S WHY I WRITE WITH INDIAN INK SO THAT THIS SPILL WILLCOVER THE CREST ON THAT BEAUTIFUL JUNE MOON... WHITE FLAG I'LL ALWAYS SURRENDER BUTI GUESS UNDER A DIFFERENT MENTALITY, WHERE DISTANCE DOESN'T EXIST AND TIME CATCHESUP TO THAT OLD SKOOL REALITY...Copyright © Shan-Teazy Ledgend 2014

Denial Is A Very Destructive Thing, Especially When Reality Paints A DifferentPicture-

I hear you Thinking

Thinking things to pull me down

I love anyway

Haiku #4I hear them say it

Cuss words ain’t for no lady

But sometimes shit’s real

Haiku #5

Brothas

Just because you’ve loved and lost don’t mean stop lovin’

If you have a nightmare,

Does it mean you stop dreaming?

Pocket Size #3

I put food coloring in my bath yesterday

Sat in a pretty blue

Let the drops fall from my finger tips

Onto my breast and my stomach

I just wanted to look how I feel

Without you

YOU NEED TOSEE YOURSELF

DOING BETTER AND THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. DARE

TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, DARE TO TAKE THERISKS THAT THE OLD YOU WOULD NEVER HAVECONSIDERED. ARE YOU WRITING DOWN YOUR VISIONS? THAT’S THEONLY WAY TO MAKE THEM PLAIN. INVEST MORE IN YOUR-SELF. PUT THE ELECTRONIC GADGETS DOWN FOR A WHILE.WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SMILED UP AT THE SUN AND ENJOYED THEFEEL OF THE WIND ON YOUR FACE? DREAM WISELY BUT FREELY.DANCE A LITTLE DANCE. STRESS GETS TIRED TOO.

AND YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING IT NON-STOP. FREE YOURSELF; IT’S TIME TO LIVE.

KNOW THAT YOU DO HAVE CHOICES. YOU CAN DECIDE

TO STAY AT THAT JOB YOU HATE OR YOU CAN LOOKFOR ANOTHER ONE. NO ONE CAN CONTROL YOURDREAMS. IF YOU DESIRE MORE THEN GO AFTER IT.

FIND FAITH IN THE CREATOR. YOU KNOW WEARE NOT ALONE. SOMEONE HAD TO CREATE THISBEAUTIFUL LIFE YOU’VE BEEN MISSING OUT ON.EVERY PLAN BEGINS WITH A DREAM SO DREAM LIKEA BILLIONAIRE WITH MONEY TO SPARE.©2014 J ASHELEY BROWN
