Principal’s Message Pleasant Grove Elementary Gazette October 2016 Happy October! Our school year is in full swing! September was a busy month for our PG Tigers as our students and teachers settled into daily routines of great learning. The PTA Luau was an amazing success! Special thanks to all of the PTA members who worked hard for our first family and community event. Thank you to everyone who attended. This month brings many great events. Apex Fun Run is coming soon! Its going to be so much fun again, and I cant wait! We will be kicking off the Kids Can Food Drive, celebrating Red Ribbon Week, and having fun at the Harvest Festival at the end of the month. A few reminders for drop-off and pick-upPlease pull all the way forward as far as possible. This means all the way up to the crosswalk or even further close to the road. Please keep moving up as the line moves. If your child is young or needs help getting in or out of the vehicle, please find a parking space. Its safer and will also keep our line of cars moving. The classroom competition begins October 1st and will go through October 21st. There will be one classroom winner in Kinder - 3rd grade and one

winner in 4th through 6th grade. Winning classes will have the option of a pizza, popsicle or donut party!!

Adopt-A-Tiger A HUGE thank you goes out to all of our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that Adopted a Tiger! “ADOPT OUR TIGERS” empowers parents and community members to help enhance the quality of our students’ education through giving. We would like to recognize the following fami-lies/individuals that donated.

Donors also received a certificate of appreciation, and their names are posted in the multi-purpose room on our paw print bulletin board. These donations are also tax de-ductible! If you are interested in Adopting A Tiger, please stop by the front office for

more information.

Kids Can Food Drive.

The drive will be from

October 8th - November 11th.

You can help by donating canned and non-perishable food items. Last year,

EGUSD contributed over 91,000 cans of food that fed the needy in the Elk Grove community for approximately 4 months!

Classes that bring in the most items will also be rewarded with their choice of a

class party!

Sun Grove’s Annual SHOE DRIVE

Share-A-Sole Shoe Drive has provided new shoes for students in need in EGUSD for many years. This year EGUSD has partnered with Share-A-Sole with a goal of collecting 3,000 pairs of shoes. We have a donation box in our

office. Please donate brand new shoes. Sizes requested are kids size 11 through Adult size 8. You can also do-nate online at sungrove.org/share-a-sole

APEX - FUN RUN We are SO excited to announce that we will be having our APEX Fun Run again this year!! Last year our families raised over $21,000! This funding helped with purchas-ing/updating technology in our classrooms, got our Mobile App up and running and supported intervention.
