Email From a Recent Tehachapi Visitor.............................Recently we received an email from a first time visitor to Tehachapi that filled our hearts with overwhelming pride for our community and we wanted to share it with you, after all is it address to everyone in Tehachapi.....Enjoy!!!Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2012 8:39 PMTo: [email protected]: What a neat place!

Chamber folks and indeed everyone in Tehachapi,

My wife and I traveled through Tehachapi on Thursday August 17th; actually, we spent the night. By way of background, we travel from Washington to Arizona and back, every year to spend time with my now 92-year old mom. We travel different routes every year and several times we have spent the night in Bakersfield, passing right by Tehachapi. Last year we did so again and headed out early in the AM and climbed up through Tehachapi and this time noticed that at least the signs for hotels/motels seemed better than what we had found down in Bakersfield. Sooooo, we made a mental note to stay in Tehachapi the next time. That time was on August 17th.

Now I must confess I expected a wide spot in the road with a couple of road house inns and some fast food. Indeed, the AAA travel book didn't list much in the way of local restaurants in Tehachapi to compete with the likes of McDonalds, etc.

What a surprise and a treat when we got there! We stayed at the Best Western which turned out to be full up with the fire fighters in town. What a great bunch! What a neat town! We ate at the Red Barn BBQ, alongside a whole lot of fire fighters and enjoyed abso-lutely the best food and the best service on the entire trip.

The next morning we drove around just to check out Tehachapi and wished we could have stayed for all of the festivities. But in the meantime we discovered that Tehachapi has to be the cleanest town we may have ever experienced and the residential areas were well kept and nice looking too. I think you guys have the entire package for what small town America should be. Friendly shop keepers, a beautiful looking set of neighborhoods and lots of local talent on display.

By the way the fire fighters were well taken care of too and were a pleasure to be around.

Rest assured whenever our travels take us through southern California, Tehachapi will be on our itinerary and hopefully for more than just a single evening.

Respectfully,Court Hanna
