Plateia 2015Road Design SoftwarePlateia is a professional software for road and road reconstruc-tion design. It is a comprehensive, full featured, yet easy to use roadway design solution.

With its original design workflow, Plateia provides the user with com-mands and tools to support the entire design process; from the initial input of survey data to complex 3D road models with analysis tools to documentation and publishing features. Using its flexible data model, Plateia can be easily integrated into BIM processes.

Plateia includes functionality for DTM, grading, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, intersections, traffic circles/roundabouts, 3D modeling, traffic signs and markings. It can easily handle large projects with align-ment lengths of several hundred kilometers.

Plateia assists the user in the preparation of professional drawings in-cluding the technical documentation such as volume calculations with comprehensive mass-haul diagrams according to several roadway de-sign standards.

The 3D model environment enables the user to apply various analyses to the design such as swept path, visibility, road water runoff, and more.

Plateia has been used in several countries for projects ranging from ur-ban roads and intersections to countless reconstructions and large scale highway projects:

Unique cross-section design concept

The “Design in one, draw in sever-al cross-sections” concept allows efficient processing and editing of cross-sections. Different levels of automation allow for the fast design of segments with similar cross-sections as well as handling the cross-sections where the con-ditions change frequently. Each cross-section can be treated indi-vidually with interactive drafting and editing commands.

Native CAD application

Plateia is fully integrated into the CAD environment. All the data are stored in one or more DWG files. The drawings can be modified with CAD commands at any design stage giving you complete flexibility in the design process.

Modular structure

Plateia has a modular structure. Modules can be installed separately or in any combination. In conjunc-tion with network licensing options (floating modules and floating packages) Plateia corporate installa-tion can be specifically tailored for each customer.

CAD platform choice

Plateia can be installed on top of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Au-toCAD Map 3D or BricsCAD, where the functionality always remains the same. In the future additional CAD platforms will be supported. This CAD platform choice gives Plateia customers the possibility to optimize their “Cost of ownership” without sacrificing function abili-ties.

Intuitive workflow

The Plateia workflow consistently follows the standard civil engineer-ing roadway design process used in Europe, which intuitively leads the designer from the start to the suc-cessful finish of the project.

Easy to learn and use

Well-structured ribbons, menus and simple dialogues enable fast learning for the first time user while the toolbox and command line op-tions are provided for the conveni-ence of experienced users.

Handling of large data sets

Plateia is capable of handling large projects with very long alignments and thousands of cross-sections within seconds. You can easily work on alignment changes without the need to cut it into smaller pieces.

Support for local design standards

Plateia is available in several lan-guages and supports country spe-cific road design standards, draw-ing layouts, traffic signs and other symbols, vehicles, etc. Plateia cus-tomers are entitled to use any coun-try specific version of the software in case of designing projects for the foreign countries.

Team-work Support

Road projects can be very efficient-ly divided among multiple team members who can then work si-multaneously. Projects can be split into layout & horizontal alignment drawings, longitudinal-section drawings and cross-section draw-ings.
