„Nowoczesny uczeń w nowoczesnej szkole” (Eng. ‘Modern student in modern

School’) is a project directed to high school students in Rybnik who can take part in additional after – school classes, academic courses and individual meetings with career consultant.

The project is funded by: - Human Capital Programme, - European Social Fund,- Rybnik. Miasto z ikrą

„Z angielskim do źródeł wiedzy” (‘To the sources of knowledge with English’)Project within the Human Capital Programme is implemented by the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Secondary School in Rybnik in partnership with the Association of Friends of the University of Silesia. The project will last for 22 months from 01.08.2009 to 31.05.2011. The overriding objective of the project is to improve the participants of key competencies, with particular emphasis on English, Mathematics and Science.  In addition, the expected scenario is to develop bilingual extracurricular classes in Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computing, and their evaluation, overcoming barriers to use specialized English literature by students , broadening the knowledge of the chosen subject and enhancing the interests of pupils.

International exchanges:Polish-Italian exchange

The exchange and our cooperation is not associated with any official European program.

The first visit of our Italian friends took place from 25th March 2009 to 1st April 2009.

Our students went to Italy in October 2009.

Polish-French exchange

Regular exchanges between our school and the French school in Saint-Vallier started in

1989. Students and teachers travel to France every other year, always in odd-numbered

years, while our friends from France visit us in even years. Exchange participants are

accommodated in families in order to get to know the culture of the country, the way of

living and much more.

Polish-German exchange

Our school has had a constant contact with Loekamp Gymnasium in Marl since 2000.

Every October, a group of German students and teachers come to Rybnik, and the youth of our school goes to Marl in the second half of the school year.

Drama Festival in English

Drama Festival in English is an annual festival, in which our school participates together with other high schools.

Film Competition for High Schools (Międzyszkolny Konkurs Filmowy – Sesje

Filmoznawcze)Our school has been a host of the Film Competition directed

to high school students since 2000.

Every year the topic of the competition concerns different conventions and tendencies existing in

contemporary film culture.

Contestants have a variety of choices

with reference to a mode of artistic

expression: research, art work, script

project or film étude.
