EQUIPMENT FOR POWDER SPRAY COATING U.S. Patent 6,194,027. Feb. 27, 2001 F. Mauchle, assignor to ITW Gema AG, Schweiz, Switzerland
A method of powder spray coating objects comprising pneumatically conveying a powder from a con- tainer through an injector and a powder line to a spraying system, using a conveying-air flow moving through the injector and generat- ing a vacuum in a vacuum zone of the injector, thereby sucking pow- der out of the container and con- veying the powder through the powder line to the spraying sys- tem.
SELECTIVE SUUSTRATE METALLIZATION U.S. Patent 6,194,032. Feb. 27, 2001 L.M.Svedberg et al., assignors to
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.
A process for selective electroless plating of a metal onto a substrate comprising providing a substrate having a surface, which is eata- lytic to electroless plating; apply- ing an electroless gel plating com- position to selected areas of the substrate in a selected pattern, said gel plating composition con- taining a carrier vehicle; an elec- troless platable metal compound; a reducing agent; and a thicken- ing agent; and inducing plating of the metal of the electroless plat- able compound on the substrate surface at the selected pattern.
COPPER FOIL U.S. Patent 6,194,056. Feb. 27, 2001 H. Sakai et al., assignors to Mitsui
Mining & Smelting Co. Ltd., Tokyo A high-tensile strength electrode- posited copper foil.
PICKLING SOLUTION FOR ALUMINUM-STEEL COMPOSITES U.S. Patent 6,194,369. Feb. 27, 2001 J. Eberhardt et al., assignors to Th. Goldschmidt AG, Essen, Germany
A pickling/activation solution for the pretreatment of aluminum- steel composites prior to dip tin- ning, said solution comprising sulfuric acid, hexafluorosilicic acid, at least one wetting agent, at least one transition metal cation, and nitrate and/or nitrite ions.
Coating and Surface Treatment Systems

Selection of the most appropriate coating or other
surface treatment is addressed in this comprehen-
sive guide. Part I covers 76 industrially important
coating types from acrylic polymers through zinc alloys. Part II provides an overview of the 19 most
important coaling and treatment methods with emphasis on the implications for a particular
product in terms of its substrate or shape. Part III
offers a guide to coating characteristics.
