Aluminum A Chemical Element in the Boron group

Its Symbol is Al

Atomic Number of Al is 13

It is a Silvery white, Soft & Ductile Metal

Al is the 3rd most abundant element available (after oxygen and silicon)

It has low density and ability to resist corrosion

Also Durable, Light weight and Malleable

Alloy A metallic material that is obtained by Chemical

combination of different elements

Pure metals are rarely used

Typically alloys have good mechanical properties than pure metals

In Aluminum Alloy the predominant element is Aluminum with the addition of Copper, Magnesium, Manganese, Silicon, Tin and Zinc

They are used in applications where light weight and corrosion resistance is required

Ash It is a fine powder produced from burning of Coal

They are spherical shaped balls, finer than cement

particles

It is a byproduct of coal based power plants

Tons of coal is burned daily in the industries, Tons of

Fly ash is produced daily

Composite The combination of Metals, Polymers or Ceramics in such a

way to get our desired properties

Better properties than either materials

Good strength to weight ratio, toughness

Conclusion No formation of any intermetallic compounds due to interfacial reaction

The fly ash particles were thermodynamically stable at the compo-casting temperature

The majority of the fly ash particles were located in intra granular regions

The fly ash particles were dispersed homogeneously in the AMCs

The interface between the aluminium matrix and fly ash particle was clear and the bonding was proper

The incorporation of fly ash particles into semi solid aluminium alloy improved the wettability

The addition of fly ash particles enhanced the micro hardness and tensile strength of the AMCs
